I am a dog person so I would say DOG

But, let us consider that having a cat or a dog or any pet animal is not just a fad. It is a responsibility. Therefore, best is for you to examine yourself first.. what kind of lifestyle do you have, can you stand the smell of dogs / cats, do you have the time to take care of whatever breed you choose, can you provide a good home (food,water, shelter and lotsa love) to your chosen pet, etc.

Having a pet dog / cat is a commitment of providing love and care for your pet for the next 10-15 years depending on the lifespan of your pet. It's not a trophy or something to show off.. A pet is a companion. and we, as masters, should be responsible pet owners.
