..So..unsay nindot nga brand in the market..for programming..I`ve heard DELL is good..How about ASUS nindot sad ni nga brand?..
bai go for asus F80Q!!!! dako ang ram ug processor is good also c2d =) mas barato sa SM ana atbang SUN cell sa north wing, i forgot the name of the store basta it cost around 38k +
while mubo kaayo ang dollar, go for the stars... Alienware for $1,199 core2 extreme na, SLI 9800GT na, 8GB of DDR2 na, pwede pa utangon*
..@bangbarnes..is it available in Cebu..or you can only acquire it through online shopping?
With your need for laptop that's going to be majorly for programming, just get a hold of any brand (except Acer - forget about after sales support... I would suggest Asus since they do have a local office in Cebu - hopefully this would mean they can fix your unit when the time comes without having to send it to oblivion at your expense...) that has a powerful processor and a decent amount of RAM (2G minimum if your going for vista).
I suggest you forget about a GAMING LAPTOP. Even if you buy an ALIENWARE for $5,000.00, it'll get fried in months anyway. You can verify this by trying to search for feedback on the internet. I have worked for a 3rd party Alienware repair company - yes! companies like Ztronics exist thanks to the nonsense that Alienware "GAMING LAPTOPS" provide.
Logically speaking, I don't think it's even feasible to get a "gaming laptop". Imagine setting-up a SLI or Crossfire GPU set-up on a DESKTOP, wouldn't you need a decent amount of cooling for that? Not to mention the appropriate PSU to match? Have you ever thought what kind of cooling can you put into an already cramped laptop form-factor? Ergo, the mainboard - or any other cheap component inside your laptop - is meant to get fried in months.
Just buy a decent notebook and upgrade your desktop for gaming. That's what I'm going to do next time.

@Meming..thanks for the advice brod...now i made up my mind...i'll definitely buy the ASUS notebook..thanks alot for the advice pipz!..
i have a cq40 310au. Upgraded it to 4gb ram. It can game, but not heavy games. It can run COD4 on low-med settings. It can also run crysis on low-med settings. I'm using vista on it. But it does get hot especially when plugged, so make sure theres enough ventilation. For its price, its good enough for me. But with your bigger budget, i suppose there are better notebooks out there.
The best laptop i believe you can get brand new out the box is Apple MacBook Pro with the additional spexs
