    Juanma ready for Penalosa!

Undefeated champion Juan Manuel Lopez figures to be tested this Saturday night when he takes on the two-time world champion Gerry Penalosa in “Champion vs. Champion” a championship card presented by Top Rank and PR Best Boxing Promotions this Saturday at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. “I welcome the challenge of this great champion and look forward to a great fight this Saturday. He has a lot of experience and has fought at a high level for a long time and it should be a great fight, but one that I expect to win to keep my world title,” said Juan Manuel Lopez, the WBO jr. Featherweight fight.

Today in the last press conference prior to the fight on Saturday, both men showed respect for each other, but also said that they’re confident of winning the fight.

“I have trained hard, because I know that it will be a tought fight. This great young champion has show what he is made off, but I feel that I have the skills and heart to defeat him and take home the title,” said Penalosa, a former WBC flyweight champion and the current WBO Bantamweight champion.

Lopez is will defend the title that he won back in June of 2008 in Atlantic City for the third time.

“There still some doubt out there about my real ability, but this a big win over a great champion like Penalosa will show everyone that I’m good and as talented as anyone in this division,” said Lopez.

Penalosa knows he is the underdog in the fight.

“I know that if I win this fight a lot of people will be surprised, but it makes no difference to me. I’m coming to win and that’s all I’m thinking about.

The referee for the fight will be José H. Rivera of Puerto Rico, and the judges will be William Lurch of Illinois, Michael Pernack of Florida and Nelson Vázquez of Puerto Rico.

In the other fight to be televised by HBO in their popular program “Boxing After Dark”, Lamont Peterson will battle Willy Blain for the WBO Interim Jr welterweight championship.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I hope the fans enjoy the fight. I come to win the title and have prepare myself to go hard for as long as the fight lasts,” said Peterson.

Blain, from France, has fought most of his professional career in Germany. “I have come to win the title and give as good as fight as possible for everyone to enjoy”, said Blain.

The weigh-in will on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Teatro Braulio Castillo next to the Bayamon City Hall.
