It is such a difficult question. There are so many ways to do it. If you always travel by public transport, stay in youth hostels and eat reasonably, you could have a pretty good time on 75 Euros per day. The more upmarket you go, the higher the cost. Of course the cheapest way by far is to take a package tour. For some of those you can pay just 300 to 400 Euros for a week, including flights and hotel (dinner, bed and breakfast). But for that price you are put in a resort with no character or soul, and spend the whole time in one place. Another very cost-effective option is to go camping. Sure, you have to buy the tent and so on, but you can use it time after time. And you have to carry it with you, which can be a nuisance. But it gives you absolute freedom of where to go (as long as you can find a campsite!). I recommend looking at the Lonely Planet guides, if you can either buy one or look at it in a library. The Rough Guides are good too. That will give you lots more ideas and options to suit the way you feel most comfortable with doing things.

Hope I am of any help. GOOD LUCK!!!

I agree with palangga. There are a lot of places to be and see in Europe. Just as backpacking is the best way to go around, it's not for everybody especially if you haven't tried to backpacking before.

Been to Europe lately and we spent 170,000 each for a group of five and this is what we covered: Rome, Assisi, Florence, Venice, Milan, Paris, Munich, Nurenberg, and Innsbruck. We travelled around by rail from
www.eurail.com for the three countries, but paid point to point for Innsbruck, Austria and the Italy towns using www.trenitalia.com. All destinations covered in 16 days. (per kulang)

I booked different accommodations and hostels using www.travellerspoint.com

If you want to plot out your schedule, download the train map and schedule. This way you would know which route and in what order you'll logically visit the desired places.

The airline that offered the cheapest was Thai Airways at us$680 for adult and $582 for children. Our port of entry and exit was Rome, but you can always secure the Thai schedule brochure and exit elsewhere in Europe.

I recommend studying a little of the necessary languages. Certain places sometimes do not have english speaking people except for the handy tourist information centers all over Europe marked "i" in blue and white colors. you can do this thru www.pimsleurapproach.com. The basics cost only us$20 only. It was fun learning, and is really helpful. The maps of each place is usually free from tourist information centers.

CAUTION: DO NOT RESERVE TRAIN SEATS BY INTERNET OR YOU WILL NOT BE SEATING NEXT TO YOUR COMPANIONS. YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE TRAIN STATION.

If you need to know more details on the places I've been, just e-mail me. I'll be glad to be of help.

The Schengen Visa (P2,500) does not cover UK. Check the site projectvisa.com

There is not much to see in milan except the duomo, the glass dome mall, the original last supper, and a castle. Expensive pa!
