The book is not fiction. It is weaved in a manner that the reader will read it as a fact. Please do not mislead the people into believing that it is fiction because I know those who love Da Vinci Code love it because they believe everything written on it.

The spine on the book says that it is fiction. I love the book but i don't believe in what is written in it. i just like the creative way Dan Brown made the story.

I respect your opinion though mosimos. Peace.

    Death to Dan Brown

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HERE I STAND By GERONIMO L. SY

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is most surprising that after selling 40 million copies of his The Da Vinci Code that attacks the core beliefs of Christianity, no one in the Christian world has called for the head of Dan Brown, to demand his death for his blasphemous writing.

Fact and fiction. At a time when the catechism of the average Christian is woefully inadequate, mixing historical facts with myths or reinterpreting the past from occult eyes and charging a grand conspiracy more than 2,000 years holds a certain attraction. The particular attraction in The Da Vinci Code is called Gnosticism. Gnosticism says that the way to salvation is knowing a secret body of knowledge to the exclusion of others. Thus, the fascination with the Code that unlocks the mystery. By reading the book, you decipher it and join the exclusive few (now, not so few) who are "in the know."

The central charges of the book are two: that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene and that he was not God but man. The former is a myth that is easily debunked by solid research and cross-referencing. The latter is a heresy that has been around since the fourth century in the form of Arianism that denied the divinity of Christ.

The Church has seen more than its share of heresies throughout its history. It has also experienced greater turbulence in the Council of Nicaea of 325 and the Great Schism of 1054. The beauty of these threats lies in that each time the Church is endangered, a lowly man comes to the fore to take up the cudgels and rally forth the teachings of the apostles; a saint emerges that bears the cross of orthodoxy for truth to see the light of day. Dan Brown today is but another test.

Cardinal Newman has a term for it—the temptation to unbelief. There are infinite forms of temptations and the most harmful kind is perhaps the temptation to disbelieve in God. Our weak nature tolerates it and indulges it to the point of giving up our faith.

What is the real message of The Da Vinci Code? On the eve of our crisis in Christianity, the following of Dan Brown is but a species of the long and arduous struggle to remain loyal and steadfast to the Triune God, a turning of the tide against curiosity and pride in favor of obedience and humility. In the end, it is not at all surprising that Christians do not call for the death of Dan Brown. Someone said sometime ago, "Forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."

I've seen the "Da vinci Code" the documentary. I would say, it's purely fiction. How come Mary Magdalene travel from Jerusalem to France carrying a baby. Non sense, the basis are not connected even a single evidence that link to holy Jesus. In this case, your faith will be tested.

These writers are anti christ no doubt about it. This is a mortal sin against God..... " To see is to believe principle " find proof and artifacts that's another story but this one, this is holy God. If that's there theory in life can they explain how the universe created and who create this universe including those large planets, animals and all living things? Can they explain why miracle happen every day?

Those things are only example that there is GOD the Holy GOD which is JESUS..... Can they separate facts and fiction? huh! May GOD forgive them of their wrong deeds......

naa ko parallel nga story about ani...i went to Prague (Czech republic) and was so awed by the statues along St Charles Bridge ( mga saints, Jesus on crucifix etc)...unya pag kakita nako sa ilang gothic cathedral...puerte jud nindota.....i turned to my Czech friend and told her "wow who would have thought that after all these years of communism you have preserved these monuments of the Christian faith".....she answered me...."because the Communists then did not believe in them....a church to them was not holy...just another building....so why bother destroying it ...it will just fuel the peoples' belief on it...so instead because it is a building like any other...it was put to good use ....it was used as hospital ....office etc etc long time ago".....

ang akong point ani....kon di ni tinuod ang "allegations" sa Da Vinci Code....the Catholic Church should not panic...instead of being defensive about this....the church should continue working on the peoples' faith...strengthening it...explaining and teaching....para kon mo abot ang sunod nga sensational story....mobasa and motan-aw na lang ang catholics...enjoy it/ critique it...but not put their faith on the line for something fictitious.....

ako personally...i enjoyed the book....and it is FICTION...but regardless wa jud blema nako kon tinuod man gani2 nag igat2 si Jesus with Magdalene....my faith is as strong as ever....

    OH, BOLLOCKS..

What are you guys thinking? The book IS FICTION. Read F-I-C-T-I-O-N. FICTION! Now we're chanting "Death to Dan Brown"? Try growing up for once. If others want to read the book, let them be. If you truly believe in your god and your religion, this won't affect you the slightest bit.

Have you heard of any mass defections from Christianity to Islam/Judaism/Satanism/etc., because of Dan Brown's book? NADA. Zilch, zero..

Zealots died in 70 AD. Don't try to relive their memory.

the da vinci code is purely fiction... it would depend on the person if he/she will believe in Brown's novel. i have read the book and i like it, but it doesn't mean that i conceive Brown's writing as true...

its a sure test of our faith. i know my religion and i know my God... i never doubted the Church teachings.

since there are numerous attacks against the book, im sure the movie will be a box office hit!

    Dan BrownÂ* Author mmmmmmmmmm

why is i notice manyÂ* western educated writers and directors seems to be liberal when it comes to the bible why dont do alaÂ* Salman Rushdie remember that poor liberalÂ* author who wrote the satanic versesÂ* ehh, lets see if they are as liberal and impartial , philosophical and without objectivity , without distortion by personal feelings, prejudices, or interpretations on their novels and movies.

but its good thing most of the people in the modern westernÂ* world view such things as just plain pluralism of ideas.
