    last OT:

it actually takes a while to get it right. i'm just lucky to get so much practice with lighting and other technicalities of portraiture, but somehow I know my learning hasn't stopped yet.

as for the session, i just have to make a few final touches to the "studio", i'll let you know asap

rockroll: this is a critique thread. I suggest that you post your pet pictures at the digital photography thread.

Sorry, I am not sure of the rules, was my first posting here ever. I thought my pics could be looked at and critiqued...I am not sure of the requirments for the pics posted here. Are they not digital pics? Scanned photos?? Thanks for any information that will help me in the future..

    linda,

try posting one or two pics at a time so we can have time to look at them. posting a lot of pictures does not give us enough room to post our comments.

Ok, I will try again.. I would very much love to become apart of this board. I hve a passion, but not a great camera and am ignorant about the different settings. I would however love to learn!!.. I have a digital Sony 20Xprecision Digital zoom, steady shot. 2.1mega pixels, an older one too with the FD drive still.

Here is a shot I took the other day. My son, being silly. He's plays guitar and is about to turn 16 in June, he's searching for his identity..lol..

    Ok, just this one..

    Thanks

Hi Linda! Nice shot. What would help is next time use a cleaner background.

And to fill your son more into the frame. There's a bit too much headroom.

    Good composition though.

hi Linda, if you can also bounce the flash to the ceiling or wall intead of directly aiming it to the subject to have a more natural lighting effect.

Thanks! I will try all ideas! Is there anyone here that specializes in shooting animals? I love taking pictures of just about anything, but concentrate more on my critters..Â* Â*

@edwin: I think she's using a p&s, Is there a way to do that trick with a built-in flash? I would also like to do this myself if possible

Zerone_Null: You couldn't bounce the flash but you could diffuse it. You could diffuse your built-in flash with a piece of bond paper or some pieces of tissue paper.
