    I always shoot raw

JPEG is already a compressed file format it records only 8bits while RAW records from 12 or above (depends on the model of your camera) so the 12 bits of data is really important specially on shadows, tones, etc.

RAW gives you much more flexibility in post processing. Instead of letting your camera settings determine how the RAW image is processed, you can tweak those things yourself during the RAW post processing on your computer. Thus, you can change things like white balance, exposure, higlight and shadow, etc.

The only big disadvantage of RAW is... it is not compressed so it eats up all the space in my memory card Good thing I have my portable data storage with me hen I shoot

    cheers!

e share lang nako ako gamay nahibaw-an ani bai ha about RAW and JPEG...

RAW format is an uncompressed file...That means, only the camera that takes the picture can understand the information collected on the camera sensors...so meaning, pwede nimo ma tweak ang white balance, exposure, saturation, etc, without degrading too much sa imo image before converting it to JPEG..so more time to PP..somewhat a matter of your preference, and your desire or need to have the extra flexibility of RAW format...

    hope this help..
