ms is considering already xp home edition, which is far cheaper than pro/business version, to be used in a lanshop businesses. ms also have their volume licensing programs which answer that "discount" you mentioned. try contacting them.

another 4-7k is already heavy in the pockets. diba?

so, isn't almost or more than 20k hardware lesser than 4-7k software? it would be better if it's said as, another 20+k is already heavy in the pocket. remember, your hardware cannot be a computer w/o software.

so again, why pursue buying expensive hardware if cant on lower cost software? its amusing.

Im not promoting piracy but why buy one when you can get one for free? Home user lang man gud ko.

Risk naman pud na sa mugamit kung gusto nila mugamit ana pirated versions kay mas cheaper man kuno. Another drawback is that dili ma update imo windows kung pirated gamiton, hassle pa kaayo pag bypass.

Sa akong nahibawan mu raid lang mana sila ug kalit. Some i cafes magsirado dayon pag makabalo sila naay manakop and some walay swerte mahunungan jud ang business.

Opensource will make your customers go "WTF IS THIS INTERFACE? I DONT F*****G GET IT".

Opensource is only good if ang target nimo kay ang "geeky" customers or mga customers that can easily adapt on different interfaces.

Is your PC a stolen item you bought cheap? Or is any of your hardware including your TV a smuggled or stolen item? No, you bought it. Why can't people do the same with software? Because you cannot "touch" software like you can touch hardware? So its not a "real" thing, so it can be stolen?

If everybody would think like that, there would be soon no more game, no more software on the market, just freeware crap.

Developing software cost money, a lot of money, and people involved in that development want to get paid, like you want to be paid for your work.

If you use illegal software, you are nothing else than a thief, a criminal.
Even more worse if you make money out of stolen software...

Okay, kahapon didto ko sa Microsoft for their quarterly seminars sa ilang mga partners(im one of them). They introduced a new system for buying Operating Systems though. Its called Microsoft Finance. Dapat lang na ang transaction nimo is above 250,000 pesos and maximum of 1 million pesos. In this system, you will only pay 30% of the one your purchased as a "down payment". In the next 9 months(and by month), you will pay the remaining balance. Imagine, ni-pay ra ka ug 30% and later na ang 70% then legal na ang OS nimo. Sulit kaayo diba?

Pero kung dili ka kabayad after sa down payment nimo, unlicensed na automatically ang mga operating system nimo and dili nimo makuha ug balik ang imong gibayaran. So dapat lang, bayaran gyud ninyo ang utang ninyo.

ang Internet Cafe Assoc of Cebu, actualy wala na cla gamit... i was even wondering why kailangan na cla inig apply sa business permit na wla man gani na cla gibuhat. and to think we pay them for the membership of 3000php and yearly 500php i just dont get it why we need the assoc when they are not doing their job... if we complain on something that is in regard to internet cafe's all they say is we cant do something about that... before we had those seminars w/c they tell us that it is funded by ICAC but its not. and in yahoo groups its pretty much useless cause all they do is flood our inbox with real estate properties being sold... hopefully if by any chance anyone who's reading this is in the mayors office, please do try to check this assoc out... i dont know what they do, i dont know if they are doing something, they could be just people who are trying to fool every internet cafe owners in cebu that they need to sign up to them, and 1 more thing, to those who remembered the 2005 NBI BSA MICROSOFT RAID, they cant even help us. every cafe in cebu was trying to reach out to them asking for help but they cant! coz mainly they cant do anything! i can even recall that the ICAC was before in TESDA, some source told me that they moved out from that place due to rental problems? rental problems? where are all the money we are paying for the assoc, you show us the breakdowns and how much is in the bank but is the money really there?
