Default korean movies are the best...

korean movies are very good, the bad thing is that the newer and most of the upcoming films are drifting towards being hollywoodish. but japan is still the most unique and artistic and usually philosophical among asian films. korean cinema is now dubbed as the 'new hongkong'

here's my collection of asian films.

i agree. nowadays, asian movies are getting superior to hollywood's. there's so much originality oozing out of asia. no wonder theres this sudden trend of remaking asian films like infernal affairs and oldboy which are two of the best movies ive ever seen.

    i currently have

"all about lily chou chou" from japan. its an indie film i think. really cool kinda arthouse.
"christmas in august" nice korean drama. sad though.
"oldboy" currently on my top five fav movies list.
"oh happy day" korean dramedy. its ok i think.
"my wife is a gangster" thought it was ok, it was overhyped and overrated in my opinion.

ive seen a lot more asian films but thats all i could think of right now. i think the "korean new wave" of movies from 1998 is just fantastic. i hope the philippines follow, but i dont think thats most likely. hehehe.

this isnt an indie film. it's was done by one of japans more popular director, shunji iwai. i really like this movie, nice music, cinematography but the story is quite disturbing. this movie has taken up quite a following even before it was made. it started out as some kind of an internet novel w/ a BBS message system for people to participate in, which was all staged by the director.

oh, i thought it was indie coz i read somewhere that the primary camera used to film this was a popular prosumer camera, the panasonic ag-dvx100. its like the cream of the crop for indie filmakers. i watched this mostly because of that. i wanted to see how it looked. and i thought it looked good, really good. this gives inspiration ehehhee.

he used a DV camera called 24 progressive?! something. he used it because this was the same cameras that george lucas was going to use in star wars. he was the first japanese director to use these type of DV camera.

maybe he was using that panasonic in the handheld shots.

try watching STROLL ull definitely like its simple and down to earth story--its not romantic or mushy, but i does give a reflection of oneself toward a choosing an ideal mate or being a singel forever.
