Hey, you guys here in Cebu, wouldn't it be nice if we start a book club?

yup...i'm interested in starting a book club. anybody else interested? we could hold meetings in intelleto or other coffeeshops and who knows we can get discounts from bookstores and food shops pa.

How does a book club operate? I ask because wala koy klaro nga idea what a book club is, or how it's supposed to function... Wala pa jud ko sukad naka-apil ug book club. Not in school or anywhere else.

Cafe Intelleto's "book club" is all about... you signing up for membership, then you get access to their collection of books. Then that's it.

My idea of a book club is more meaningful than that. You get together with people and you talk and talk and talk about books. Or you focus your discussion on a certain book, share ideas and impressions and reactions, etc. I thought a book club is supposed to be like that. Wouldn't that be more interesting and exciting?

Anybody here more familiar with running a real book club? Care to share your ideas? Kung naa tay maporma nga book club dire I'll be among the first to join!

let's give it a shot i haven't joined a book club but i've seen how the Oprah Book Club operates. Oprah chooses a book and all who wish to join reads it then they hold meetings where they discuss anything and everything about that particular book.

In our case, we could vote on a particular book we've read or want to read then we meet so we could talk about it. Or better yet, we could discuss it here in istorya. Maybe we could ask the administrators of istorya to devote a thread for our book discussions in Arts and Literature forum. But first, if you wish to join, post your name here. When we total to more than 5 members, then let's select a book.

Hello fellow istoryans! I know daghan diri ang member or nakabalo about ani nga book club sa mango square... due to my very busy schedule i was not able to visit them for over a month... then last week when I went there wala na man diay didto oi... either they moved to another location or gi-close na gyud ni nila....

can anyone pls. tell me where CAFE INTELLETO is located right now Salamat kaayo sa makatabang kanako!

What? wla na di ay ngadto ang cafe Intelletto.. I'm sorry but i don't know where they transferred sad. I'll try to check with my friend if she knows where... whew! nice pa nman to na place for book readers.

yup closed na sila, bag-o lang ko nakabalo.. too bad, they're the only internet cafe in cebu that is also at the same time a library/ study area/ book club and cafe. what a wonderful combination unta, sadly few people apparently don't appreciate it. probably because filipinos in general are not a reading public?
