USJ-R Masscom Students Top ABS-CBN Campus Patrol Contests
USJ-R Masscom students emerged triumphant as they clinched three major awards during ABS-CBN’s 3rd Campus Patrol in celebration of TV Patrol Central Visayas’ 20th Anniversary.
Veraline Cańoneo, ABMC 3 student got the Best in News writing Award after she impressed the judges with a news article rated 98%.
The USJ-R News Team composed of six ABMC 3 students namely; Jona Reyes, Althea Mae Santillan, Tiffany Montańa, Aaron Joshua Caparros, Jun Nińo Nalipay and Joworski ALipon bagged the Best News Team Award after garnering an average of 98%. Joworski Alipon and Jona Reyes, the news anchors of the News Team also got the Best in News Casting Award.
The winning smiles of the USJ-R News Team with Ms. Geraldine Popoy, Masscom Coordinates Adviser, Dr. Teoddie Dumam-ag, Dean CAS, Mr. Amadeo Narca, Chair DCLL.The contests were held at the Center for Performing Arts, USJ-R main campus on Aug. 15, 2008. It was for the first time that ABS-CBN’s Campus Patrol was held in a school.
The activity was participated in by different schools who were CAMS members namely; STC, CIT, UP, CNU, UV, Benedicto College and USJ-R.
The said event was sponsored by the Cebu Alliance of Mass Communication Students and ABS-CBN in coordination with USJ-R.
The inauguration of the newly renovated AMBASSADOR FRANCISCO L. BENEDICTO MASSCOM STUDIO on February 9, 2009 serves as the kick-off activity of the College of Arts and Sciences Week on February 9-13, 2009.
These state-of-the art TV studio and campus radio station are dubbed as “the first” of their kind in the Mass Communication schools in Cebu. Dean, Dr. Teoddie B. Dumam-ag believes that these modern facilities provide MassCom students a taste of the on-the-job training prior to their internship to the different media outlets.
With its multi-million equipment, the MassCom studio gives the students more opportunities to become experts in video production and skills in radio broadcasting and management. The first Benedicto MassCom Studio was built in 1987.
