what's U2 gonna do? sing "pride" and "with or without u" and play the rest of the set with some obscure songs that the 99,000 concertgoers haven't heard before? a toto incident all over again with the "fans" having a glazed look in their eyes and will spend the rest of the week whining about the 2 thou pesos going down the drain. and that excludes the hangover everyone gets from the 10 minute bono preaching.

just to clarify things, i love U2. i think 'the joshua tree" is one of the best albums ever produced this side of creation. but let's face it, manila can't afford them. maybe in another ten years when they regularly do vegas as a nostalgia band. thank u.

The Philippines can for sure afford U2 (what's 1,2,5,10 million dollars)... they just can't afford a 100,000 capacity stadium (Hundreds of Millions of $'s) The stadium will be almost useless once it's completed.

Too bad U2 isn't coming. It's a shame that most Filipino fans who can't afford to go abroad to watch great acts won't get a chance to see one of the greatest bands ever on home soil.
