Ang problema sa GIMP kay dili kamanipulate ug 32-bit (CMYK) images and so can't do color separations. Otherwise, it's a good substitute to PS.

To install apps in Ubuntu you can do any of the following:

    1. Use the command line. Type sudo apt-get install nameofapps.

Ex.: to install wine type sudo apt-get install wine then press Enter.

    2. Use Synaptic Package Manager. Just click System>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager. On synaptic, do a search of the application u want to install. When the search result comes up, right click on the app you want install, then click on "Mark for installation". You may do another search and mark other apps for installation. When you've marked all your choices, click on "Apply".

    3. Use Add/Remove Applications which is an entry on Gnome Main Menu.

Lastly, you may visit Ubuntu forums and do a search of any topic of interest. Most likely, you'll find the answers there.

Another useful site: Ubuntu Linux Resources

Happy Ubuntu-ing. Whatever difficulties you'll be encountering as a Linux newbie, don't give up. You'll eventually get the hang of it and it will be a very rewarding experience.
