GIN BLOSSOMS -for bridging the gap between Alt.Rock and Alt.Country (although in reality it was Uncle Tupelo who did this but then Uncle Tupelo is not that famous in the alt.rock scene). the band later on incorporate more alt.rock than country in their sound but they never abandoned it totally (u can hear it on songs like Cheatin', Memphis Time, Til I Hear It From You, Jet Black Summer)
HANK WILLIAMS, Sr.- for being himself and not caring what Nashville has to say. He was a member of the Grand Old Opry but then they kicked him out later.. And how Nashville have Hank Williams' photo all over the place and the "established" country capital name dropped him but then they never reinstated him on the Opry. Whassup with that?
THE BEATLES- for changing the course of rock 'n roll
JOHNNY CASH- for being honest about his flaws and his faith.
JON FOREMAN- for being that harmonica slinger and folk singer in a rock band
OLD 97's- imagine The Futureheads (of Sheila and the Insects) doing country music. Rhett Miller has the voice of a brit-pop/post punk singer with the backdrop of honky-tonk and cowpunk...
RYAN ADAMS- for being too prolific that it's so hard to catch all his materials... this guy released 3 albums in 2005 alone. Each of the three has it's own sound and has something to say. how cool is that?
ROBBIE FULKS- that weird country singer who echoed buck owens and hank williams who sometimes rapzzzzz... and he boldly proclaimed to F*** Nashville and that Corporate Country Sucks and yet CMT loves him....
ELVIS- I grew up listening to the guy
COLLIN RAYE- My first introduction to the Nashville Sound and one of the few Mainstream Country that i can stomach
MXPX- The first skate-punk i ever heard. it was back in 1995 and i was still 8 years old..
