do i need to install this in a separate drive from windows ?
can i used a drive where i have some files saved?
I suggest a partition.
Comment lng ko bro, sa akong nasuwayan, sa Ubuntu 7xxx and 8xxx, maglisod da-ug ang Pentium 3 procs ana bro... Better mga P4 1.5Ghz and up... For Pentium 3 processors, ok ra padaganun ang PCLinuxOS2007Originally Posted by cosplay
The miinimum specs i tried running PCLinuxOS2007 with modest performance was a Branded CPU @ 450MHz, 256MB RAM... So if ur aiming at Ubuntu, better have a P4 with an NVidia VideoCArd of at least 128MB (MX400 ran fine) pra mka-3D Desktop Cube ka... ATI Cards depending on the model kay mejo naay problema with Compiz or Beryl, kuti kaau i-install for beginners . . . And, don't forget pod d i, please allow a modest amount of swap partition pra paspas pod
Hope nkatabang ko gamay

Bro, ayaw kasipyat ug partition! If your not comfortable or adept with partitioning please patabang ug migo nimo na kama-o kay na, wagtang jud na tanang files nimoOriginally Posted by bongbong2001
Ubuntu as with other Linuxes, cannot install natively in FAT/FAT32/NTFS File systems. You have to create a separate partition for them. To make it easier for you, here's my advise
Back-up all ur files and consider ur hard disk ask fresh ba, pra papas tanan
Then re-install Windows bro, but during install i-delete tanang partition, then create the partition size you want for Windows

After Windows installation, you can then boot from the Ubuntu CD... During the install process you'll be asked where to install it... There will be 3 options, Select the Manual Partitioning
Then you will see the FAT32/NTFS Partition plus an unpartitioned space. Select the unpartitioned space bro then Create New partition. change mountpoint to / . Decrease the partition size slightly para naay free space mga 1 or 2GB depende nimo, select type of Partition, i suggest ReiserFS or XFS kung nahan kag journaling na OS, other wise pwede ra EXT2 or EXT3. Then Select the Remaining Unpartitioned space, Create New, change the type to SWAP Partition. Click dayon apply, then ok na kaMo-proceed nana xa to copying and installing the OS
The other Option for installing bro without wiping out ur HDD would be to resize the Windows Partition 1st to make room for the Linux Filesystem and Swap partitions using PartitionMagic or using the Ubuntu LiveCD Program named GParted.
Kung napa moy la-in solutions dira mga bro, please share it with us pod
Welcome to the world of Opensource bro Bongbong!![]()
Kanya kanya jud cguro tag experience.. akong friend's pentium 3 nga laptop kay gi-installan namo og ubuntu .. 128 Mb ra gani to pero okay ra so far... then built-in pud ang video card.. Its an elitegroup (i forgot the model) laptop.. basta disable lang jud ang graphics and animations sa Compiz or Beryl.. hehe..Originally Posted by ix_888
Yup. I agree with what he said. Avoid mistakes as much as possible with partitioning. Find someone who can help you.Originally Posted by ix_888

pero pag-run nimo sa CD bro, wala mokamang? Unsa nga version sa Ubuntu gigamit ninyo kay try pod nako
ganahan man gud ko sa Ubuntu mang-install kay sayon gamiton labi nag bag.o pa ka
Thanks daan bro

Dili man mokamang if you have an adequate size of Swap partition.. not too small.. Then disable ang tanang graphic effects like animations and desktop effects from Compiz or Beryl. Also, you might want to try Xubuntu, a lightweight ubuntu running on Xfce session. We are using the latest LTS Hardy Heron from Ubuntu.
OK broThanks! ako experience man gud was using the LiveCD only sa mga P3, so mao sad hinay
Never tried an install coz i thought mohinay ra gihapon. i'll try that sometime. Matsalamz kaau!
