Misleading end of content? I was reiterating that Erap or Gloria is no different. That was just an example beset with our times. Bogo na sad siguro mobatbat pro-gloria or anti.

What I'm trying to say is that, Gloria or Erap's, are still puppets of their own party. example lang nato si Gloria... kay mao may bag.ong issue....behind all that's happening now people fail to see, tungod kay pwede pa molansar si Gloria, tanang strategies giandam na na daan sa Lakas. Kahinumdom mo? Katong niingon siya dili kuno siya molansar, then in the end lansar diay. Mao ni usa sa mga straheyo nga pinaluyong plinanuhan sa partido. Example nato si Gloria, i dont believe her partymates especially those who hold great sa Lakas, didn't know about the cheating. s**t, tanan manikas uy. Ramos lang daan. Ang kapait, nadakpan sa pikas. Nikas man gyud tanan, kinsa bay dili mamalit? Karon ang mabuking lang.

Political stategists? Blah blah... stategy kuno... issue kuno...

Bira didto bira diri. Issue didto issue diri. Issue ra man na ba. Isig labayay ug issue. Then, padak-anay dayug hatag kwarta. Then, motuo gihapon tang maayo na nga mga politiko? Damn, pinoy's will never mature.

I just don't understand why Filipinos don't see this reality? Sa inyo lang daan baranggay, linista naman gani nang kinsa kang kuan, kinsay kang kuan. Sahay kamangon pa. And daku na kaayong issue nga nanikas si Gloria? Shit.... pagka.... shock pa ta?

OT: Well... deleting is very convenient now. Who wants to join?

    There's also no Party discipline...

Look at that pathetic John Osmena....

He was with the opposition... he was always with the opposition, in fact he voted not to open the envelope during the impeachment trial...

When Gloria came to power, he joined with her... Now that Gloria is marred by a scandal, he's back to the opposition again...

This pathetic guy has never done anything good for the country... when the South Coastal Road at the SRP was still under construction he successfully withheld funding for it thus delaying its completion... Thanks that Erap was ousted and the SRP was finally completed...

Right now he is the mastermind of the plan to divide Cebu...

    Default MERGED: Philippine Political Parties

    Hi,

I'm currently a senior in high school (12th grade) in the United States. I have always been interested in the politics and history of the United States, and I have fairly recently become interested in the politics of the Philippines.

I've been reading up quite a bit on the political parties of the Philippines....and I can't detect much difference. They all seem to emphasize "opportunities for the poor" or something similar.

But we all know that's not always true. After all, the Philippines still is in a dismal state of existence; it is plagued by poverty, corruption, lack of infrastructure, etc.

I particularly loathe the corruption in the Philippines; how can any moral Filipino look at the state of his or her country and stand by idly while some corrupt aristocrats dictate the future? How can the aristocrats themselves morally let their country fall to pieces?

Ok, so maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I have the wrong views of the Philippines. Tell me why I'm wrong; I encourage it.

Here's what I'd like to know: what are the real differences between the parties?

Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of parties advocate the same thing, but which parties actually do something about the state of the Philippines instead of maintaining the status quo? Which party is doing all the empty talking.....not really taking action in what they say they "believe"?

I'm visiting the Philippines this summer, and I would really like to work with a local party or organization that is genuinely interested in the welfare of the Philippines as a whole.

Oh, and PLEASE respond in English. I haven't learned Tagalog or Cebuano..................................

IMHO... the main differences between the two... is that they are too many parties in the Philippines, and they change sides each time a party is not so popular.

try to do some research on "Gawad Kalinga"

Basically there are no difference between parties, all of them are the same, they just flock to which has the biggest pocket

    An interesting question.

In the US you have a two party system. You have republicans and the democrats.

During the American occupation and until 1972, the Philippines also had a two party system, the Nacionalistas (more like republicans) and the Liberals (similar to the democrats).

However when Marcos declared Martial Law, he formed his own monolithic party, the KBL or Kilusang Bagong Lipunan. The traditional parties got sidelined. Worse most of his political opponents were incarceratd and tortured. But majority of the KBL belonged are ex nacionalistas. In 1979, Marcos called an election to the interim Batasang Pambansa and an opposition party was formed known as LABAN. Among the candidates then were ninoy aquino, alex bongcayao (yes that infamous hit squad of the NPA), ernesto maceda to name a few. During that election only Maceda won from the opposition.

In 1984, many opposition parties sprang. Among them is PDP-LABAN (different from the original LABAN party) of Aquilino Pimentel, the UNIDO or the United Nationalist Democratic Organization of Salvador Laurel.

After Marcos was gone, other parties appear such as Lakas ng Bayan, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino or LDP ( the main administration party) and the National Union of Christian Democrats (NUCD) of Senator Raul manglapus.

In 1992 elections, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino was split into 2. Fidel Ramos formed his own party known as Partido Lakas Tao and coalesced with the National Union of Christian Democrats. Their Union was later known as the Lakas-NUCD. The main LDP was bannered by Ramon Mitra. In 1992, the Nacionalista Party was also split into two. The main Nacionalista was led by Salvador Laurel while the splinter group led by Danding Cojuangco was known as the Nationalis Peoples Coalition or (NPC).

In 1992 the following are the existing political parties and their mergers:

    1. LDP Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino
    2. Lakas NUCD
    3. Nationalist Peoples Coalistion
    4. Liberal Party-PDP LABAN
    5. Nacionalista Party
    6. some remnants of KBL
    7. Partido Sosyalista Demokartiko Pilipino
    8. Partido ng Bayan ( a communist party)

In 1998, three political parties are added. Erap Estradas's Partido ng Masang Pilipino, Mriamn Defensor's Peoples Reform Party and Gloria Arroyo's KAMPI.

There are other regional political parties such as Panaghiusa (precursor of Osmenas BO-PK) Mindanao Alliance in Mindanao but most of these parties are defunct.

Philippine political parties are just the same. Their platforms are identical. I rather say Philippine political parties are not issue based but PERSONALITY BASED. Politicians can easily change parties depending who is in power. During the time of Cory most of politicians are LDP, during Ramos, Lakas NUCD, during Erap LDP again and during GMA Laks NUCD.

Politicians in the Philippines are oppostunist and most have no principles. Whoever could give them the money they go.

But if you ask me, I rather join Liberal Party. Its principle driven and its not as corrupted as the others. Besides great men came from this party such as Ninoy Aquino, manueal Roxas and Elpedio Quirino. Avoid Laks NUCD and NPC. They have the distinction as the most corrupt political parties in the Philippines today.

so we don't need to change totally the form of government... we just have to strengten our political party. Two would be fine.
