Finished this anime couple of weeks ago after a friend recommended it.. I have a lot of complaints and I'm sure the manga is better. I've heard about the pacing problems before I watched it but never realized it was that irritating. I hate it when for example in episodes 2 and 3, there's so much running which is kinda pointless and the characters endlessly repeat lines like "I'm really dead..." The anime could have benefitted from better editing and pacing. There's no shortage of violence and gore here (as well as nudity, fanservice and outright ***) which is beautifully animated to a disturbing degree, the blood, the dismembered bodies, severed heads, exploding body parts, etc. etc.. Unfortunately, the characters move stiffly and awkwardly, and the animation quality ain't very consistent. The narrative is compelling enough, and I actually love the characters. Their flawed personalities, conflicting interests, selfishness, etc. etc.. The humor is hit or miss, but I loved it. Overall, it's one of the GONZO's best works to date.

I'll probably read the manga soon, as everyone is recommending it over the anime..

skip the anime. it just sucks big time 'cept for the OSTs. I watched the anime. I stopped before I even got to episode 3. the running thing is kinda psychological since everything is unknown from their perspective
