Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?

Wow! Its good to see you guys talk about the old cebu music era. I used to be in a band also before and Im still writing songs until today and record them myself through Pro tools. I could only wish the days back when Cebu music was still on its infantile stage and have the technology of today in digital audio workstations (DAW). It would have helped the artists like ETU, 40, and the like, create a cost effective production of their songs. The reason why these bands didnt survive then was merely becasue of PROFIT and LOSS. Their talents was never a question, their songs were loved and sought after, it was just a question of sustainability.
Im even thinking of organizing a tribute concert for these artists with current bands performing the classic songs of 40, ETU, BTU, Ire, Tribe, etc... What dya think?![]()
i was in elementary when GAW CENTRAL SQUARE opened. grade 2 tingali ko ato when my uncle harassed the security guard to let me in. hehehe. di ko pasudlon kay nagpurol pa ko, unya basin pisot pa kuno. pero nakasud gyud ko. didto nako first nakit-an ang IRON SMOKE, PLUTONIC, naa pa toy ARMY BAND. one thing akong di malimtan is dat wala pay original ato panahona, puro covers. iron smoke-scorpions, plutonic-dire straits. da guard saw me sing along to the lyrics bisan sa akong kagamay, mao nga pasudlon na ko dayon with my uncle pirmi. later years saw the emergence of bands like 40, meduza, etc..
Ferdie, why dont you do a tribute album first since you have the tools to do so.![]()
if available, i'd buy a original compilation CD of those artists, but since thats next to impossible, a tribute CD will do.
There's still that Mango Jam compilation floating around....![]()

Zoinks,
i remember going to Chris Sports in SM. some employee in there was playing local ground songs. Maybe you can borrow from that guy and make the first pirated local ground CD. haha.
I still have my Mango Jam compilation although I'm quite dissapointed by its quality. I think the original recordings, played over Y101, definitely sounded better than the one made for the compilation. The compilation didn't give much justice to some songs like ETU's "Shades of Grey", 40 The Band's "Rain", B.T.U's "Coat of Love" and The Ire's "Wisdom". But it's better than nothing.
My bootlegged local ground recordings (recorded over Y101 courtesy of a DJ friend) has been distorted due to overplaying, lol. That same friend also told me that Y101 doesn't have copies of the songs anymoreSeems like they dissapeared together with Johnny Kawa.
