ang dakong pangutana lage, does the roman catholic church holds moral authority over the phils? if we base our moral perspectives from the church only, that is not justifiable.

what is our national moral standards, from the RC? i don't know if we even have a "national standard" for morality...

how about the muslims, buddhists, liberalists, scientologists, protestants, mormons, feminists, moral skeptics, etc...should they not be also part of the equation?

as far as our religion is concerned, religion morality is just a guide and not to dictate...

Even saints have sin. It's not the issue anymore I think this thread is just questioning on how people will react on the CBCP decision regarding GMAs status. The separation of church and state has long been issue.Churches and religious groups has been factors on the election of politicians so if they will be factors on the removal, that will be it.It's not only the catholic church whos been active in Philippine politics, theyre just the ones whos been vocal regarding some issues. Some churches supporting politicians were just robots controled by their leaders.

It's not the CBCP who is weak and sinned but some individual.Glad to be back!

I think they did the right thing....
I think mas daku ang damage sa Pilipinas( in general ) kun panaugon nila si gloria at this time (when our economy is doing well), than letting the righteous activists go along with their plan of new government. Magstart napud ta ani sa sinugdanan...
Here is the worst part, I don't even think they have what it takes to sustain their plan as well as the support of the people. Not to mention, putting another more corrupt personality into office who can do nothing.

Even the church was not able to do anything, kini na ba kahang uban sectors? What are this people thinking? Or they can't think straight anymore because of being too power-hungry.

"Sinless" as they are, I think it was right of the CBCP to stand against GMAs resignation. The stand was deliberated and collectively decided. Unlike during Sin's helm, every position he made or declared were considered ex cathedra by the rest of the Catholic flock transposing the CBCP down to a mere collegial body for academic or theological discussions. Forgive me, but the good Cardinal Sin (bless his soul) was probably the most authoritarian Cardinal ever to have reigned in this country.

The CBCP, as it stands today, is becoming more influential and more involved not to say more prudent on popular issues than before.

I believe church decisions (r. catholic or otherwise) must be derived from the collective wisdom of its elders or bishops not just from one person. After all, a church is a body not just the cardinal alone.

    has anyone notice this,
ang gubot kaayo nga place didto ra jud sa manila, mao jud nay ma-abtan naku sa tv, puro rally, rally diri, rally didto, ang mga rallyist pirmi gaingon, "sawa na ang taong bayan sa garapalang corruption.... blah blah blahh...," naa pud mga religious groups nga actibo kaayo uban sa mga rallyist. but then, as brownprose said, the cbcp's stand was a collective decision, so i think.... pipila ra ning mga personalities sa simbahan na active kaayo aning mga rally..

...... I wonder why wala nila nakita ang mga nahimo sa present government (I'm not pro gloria by the way) sa mga provinces, which is dapat lang sab jud nga tagaan ug attention sa government,...I wonder why those religious personalities choosed to side with those righteous, self proclaimed activists nga kung naay makitang sayop, ilisan dayun, panaugon dayun sa pwesto , unsa may mahimo sa usa ka leader ana kung gamay ra kaayo ang time gigahin para niya di ba?....ang resulta adto mo apektar sa kinapubrihan.... kay ang impact ana ngadto jud dayun sa atong ekonomiya....these things klaro kaayo nga wala nakita aning mga paria....
