@Zerone_null- your're right pre, they lost the homebrew case in Australia-- it's about modification of PS2, they tried to file a case against a shop that modifies consoles, after two months the judge dropped the case for the reason that 'the customer has every right what to do with the console' mura ba mo palit ka ug car, maski unsa-on nimo na pag modify - imo man.. it's the bios on the chip that would make the console play copied games(illegal) amd run Homebrew apps/gamesl, which is impossible to stop from the distro. That's also the reason nga sony's aim to secure is the software nalang and that's one of the major reasons why they're looking into promoting Bluray .... the saga goes on....Originally Posted by Zerone_null

I wonder what Microsoft will do now that the xbox360 has been cracked hehe no thanks to the DVD drive firmware itself, not the actual BIOS cracked
same thing..."try" to crackdown on those people who'd done it. Though, somehow they're less concerned over this since they've got a service that is loved by most xbox gamers. Still doesn't mean they're not concerned though.. SHOULD those people get into Live with bootlegged copies though..that would be another case.

I thought MS was using HD-DVD for their games, DVD paman diay gihapon...but MS will release an updated DVD drive tingali na dili na upgrade or mahack ang firmware
also about that Linux not for ordinary consumers, but think about it, if someone releases a Linux distro, with a great UI with a web browser, picture browser, great media player (Avis, Mp3 etc...), wouldn't it become a full fledged HTPC? I would imagine MS would do the same with Xbox360 to counter this(ability to run XP)
Cracking the Xbox 360 or whichever console : It's not going to affect console sales negatively, heck it'll sell a helluva lot more here in the Philippines once we get cheapo pirated games for it, but as with all these console manufacturers they're going to try and circumvent all these with firmware updates, etc. to cover up the holes. Bottom Line : it's a non-issue (its actually good for a lot of people)
Ya, a full fledged HTPC would be great, but a lot of the functionality that most people want will probably be available out of the box with the PS3 already since they want the console to be the "heart" of your home theater setup. This would be real handy though if Sony sticks up all kinds of DRM and security crap over the ability to stream media files from your existing PC.
Zerone, how's the wireless streaming of movies from your MCE PC to the 360? I saw a plugin/app that does live transcodings of your avi to wmv, sounded awesome, you tried that yet?
Dark-- Again M$ can't do nothing about that because it's hardware/firmware mod. as for the actual bios it has been cracked already and how i wish i can elaborate more to this forum without ninjas, it's just not public (mirc's) yet. although it very alpha yet promising.Originally Posted by darkwing
