There has been a lot of discrimination for gay people, not just in the Philippines. The American Psychological Association once branded homosexuality as a mental disorder, but retracted this marking as more studies drew credible evidences that prove otherwise. Today, more and more societies are accepting same *** relationships and even marriages. I definitely have no qualms about it.

We do not have the right to judge how gay people feel, because we do not know exactly HOW THEY FEEL. They have suppressed their identities for so long because of fear for being prejudiced and robbed of opportunities at work, school, public office and the like. I find this wrong. There are a lot of factors why people become gay, and studies show that environmental and genetic influences contribute to the formation of one's sexuality. Oftentimes, homosexuality is not a matter of choice.

Being gay and loving another person of the same *** is not a sin for me, nor is it ridiculous. It is not like they choose to be gay like how criminals choose to commit crime. They love, they nurture, they commit. I do not see anything wrong with these.

I just wish that in time, people will at least TRY to understand their NEEDS as individuals and not creatures of lesser value and dignity. I wish we would take the time to see love and life through their eyes. Who knows, we might even know more about life from them if we just try to put ourselves in their shoes.
