From my point of view, I don't think Cebu is pampered because nagsip-sip kay GMA. It's the other way around. GMA and her cronies have seen the improvements in Cebu and the potential for Cebu to expand further. That is the reason why they put up that Malacanang in Cebu in the first place... it's like a fall back are where they can go and regroup in case something happens to the Main Malacanang. the only pampering Cebu got was when they made that decision na, before that wala naman talagang pakialam si GMA dito.
Cebu has contributed the highest share of the GNP of the Philippines. If Cebu could only use that same fund for improvements in Cebu itself we would already be like Taiwan or Singapore in terms of IT and other advancements.
Being a federal state would be the best thing for Cebu right now.
I’ve been to Manila, I’ve even worked there. I was even there in EDSA 2 and EDSA 3. You’re saying that you’re more nationalistic? I don’t think I agree with that. The politicians there are also just playing with their constituent’s minds. Whatever you say is happening here in Cebu is also happening everywhere in the Philippines. If Cebu wants to consider a Federal form of government or an independent Cebu then it’s our option. Why should you react this violently when you are a self confessed “Manilenyo” so what do you care? Even if Cebu will push through with these plans, her interaction with the other provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao are still there but at least the funds that Cebu will be generating will go back to Cebu rather than be used to make things easier for the people there in the National Capital Region while we ourselves are plagued with floods because there is not enough budget given by the National Government to clean out our drains.Mas national lang talaga ang pananaw namin. Sori lang po talaga pero ang masabi ko, may pagka parochial lang talaga mag isip ang mga Cebuano. Punta nga kayo sa maynila para mabago naman yong mga bias nyo.
Fair being fair, Manila did contribute a lot to the development of the Philippines but this is not because Manila is that good. There is the aspect of the location where the Head of Government is located. Before you help spend for the community, you have to spend to clean out your house right? So it is really expected that NCR, which is the area where the Government is located should be given priority by the officials. But if it happens that the local government would not have enough funds to do what they need to do and will be stuck in Red Tape when they ask for funds from NCR, then I’d rather funds stay here to be used here. And this is only achieved when the form of government is changed.
I beg to differ, There are a lot of Cebuanos in Manila because since it is the “HEAD OF THE NATION” daw. It’s the same thing about Filipinos going abroad STUPID. The Investments are there and so are most of the offices. The head office might still be in Manila but if they won’t pay the salaries then they have to shutdown (or we will shut them down). And FYI lang we can survive with whatever we have on hand. Kahit wala kaming pera ditto sa Cebu we can still get a decent meal.
For me, being Filipino is right but being a Cebuano is a Privilege. I might be a Filipino by birth but I’m more proud to be called a Cebuano or a Bisaya than anything else.
PS: It’s easy to train an army… we already have guns manufactured in Danao to arm them if need be. hehehehehehe
very well said....
ako lumad jud ko nga taga danao and im proud to say nga kung army lang or pusil and istoryahan, i dont think mapildi pa ta sa manila..or ni tempest..nyahahahahah!!!
the manileños could say about being bias with the perceptions especially from the people in the southern part.. they used to call us provincianos?! well, not for now... visayas and mindanao are catching up... the investors slowly realise how vast the resources of visayas and mindanao... well, as i know mindanao leads in exports of raw materials and cebu craftmanship.... the only unfair with the philippines is that how come when visayas and mindanao has bigger income- generating resources has LESS national budgets compare to manila... y was that? philippines is not just manila you know.. now, about politics... Â*cebuanos and mindanaoans also have better politicians (eg., duterte of davao and osmeña of cebu) but why is it the political voice only comes from manila?? are we going to be dictated by what the manila has to say... that is very unfair for us cebuanos and for mindanao....
