    sa GMA7 ganina, Tomas leads by around 5t votes (15t + votes ) while MAD has 9t ++ votes.
    ang luoy kaayo si Garcia only 500+ votes against Rama's 16t+ votes.

    Measure Filed: All lots under 93-1 declared Socialized Housing Zones.

    FOUR Cebu City councilors sought the inclusion of a new land use classification called “socialized housing zones†in the zoning ordinance, and have identified Capitol-owned lots in the city to be designated as such a zone.

    The councilors want to amend the 1996 Revised Zoning Ordinance of Cebu City to include the new classification.

    If approved, areas previously declared as socialized housing sites in 11 barangays under City Ordinances 1684, 1772 and 1866 will be used solely for socialized housing.

    Province-owned lots in Barangays Apas, Luz, Busay, Camputhaw, Capitol Site, Kalunasan, Kasambagan, Lahug, Lorega, Mabolo and Tejero will be affected by the proposed amendments.

    “There is a need for the zonification of these identified sites and other lots already occupied for socialized housing projects and they shall be considered as socialized zones so that their use can be limited in accord with the Socialized Housing Law,†the councilors said in their proposed amendatory ordinance.

    The measure was referred to the council committee on laws during the regular session yesterday for review.

    Councilor Gerardo Carillo, one of the proponents of the amendments, clarified that the areas have previously been declared as socialized housing sites and that these will be declared as socialized housing zones once the measure is approved.

    Lots in socialized housing zones cannot be used for commercial, institutional and ordinary residential purposes unless the City Government approves a variance or exemption, Carillo said in an earlier interview.

    “We are seeking to amend the zoning ordinance to include an entirely new classification, which is the socialized housing
    zone. The Province-owned lots are already socialized housing sites and we want to make it one zone,†he explained after the session yesterday.

    Carillo’s co-authors are Councilors Hilario Davide III, Richard Osmeña and Augustus Pe Jr.

    The ordinance was proposed to protect its occupants from threats of eviction from the Provincial Government, owner of some 60 parcels of land in 11 barangays.

    The properties were offered at a low cost to some 5,000 families sometime in 1993 but since most of them did not meet the deadline to pay their amortization, Capitol decided to recover the lots from its occupants.

    Once the areas are declared socialized housing zones, Carillo said that the Capitol will not be able to sell the properties to other parties and investors, except to its present occupants.

    Capitol will also not be able to use the lots for purposes other than socialized housing.

    He cited Republic Act 7279 or the Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992, which provides that government properties occupied by socialized housing beneficiaries in a locality are given first priority to be declared as socialized housing zones. (LCR)


    Tomas should know better that the sale of parcels of these lots and the future sale of the remaining lots have a "GO" signal higher than Gwen. Re-zone an obviously prime commerical land into a socialized housing zone through a mere ordinance? This can be overturned anytime by Gwen's ninang of this project.

    i think this is one way to help him realize what a propper thing to do lets just post and comments if unsay problem malay nato mabasahan ni sa ato own mayor diba? ug makasabot cya ug makahibalo sa mga problema
