MERGED: Modern Education, Literacy and English Proficiency

Ato usa iklaro. Ang ipa-abolish is the teaching of tagalog grammar that is hitherto disguised as "Filipino".

Adarna, Noli, Florante and Fili belong to a subject called Philippine Literature which is still relevant. If we are gearing towards globalization, shall we not teach phil. literature in english so that masabtan sa lain nasod and daghan maka-appreciate? What really matters for these novels is the content and narratives, not the mummification of the good old tagalog.

if we should modernize education, then we should also modernize Filipino as a subject, not abolish it.

Filipino(tagalog) authorities did the modernization already by infusing taglish words in tagalog grammar aron "in" kunuhay paminawon..come to think of it, modernization can only be done by using english language. So, abolition ra gyud diay of Filipino(tagalog) ang solution if we want to modernize the subject.

Just to neutralized the debate, Filipino subject which is tagalog in dialect would be advisable only during lower years like elementary education. Secondary and tertiary would focus more on how to be soon professionals since at this stage students are already curios and intelligent enough.Let us benchmark other countries educational system like in the US, mostly american's finished up to high school only, college is expensive in the states and it is more on specialization.Here in the philippines for example, we took Bachelor of Science in Mechanical engineering, do you mean by the time we gradute all of those subjects we studied will be applied?In the US their course for example, Mechanical Engineering major in automotive design, after they graduate they land on their field of expertise. So most of the subjects here in the philippines are "just adding up water to the ocean". There are some schools here that already shifting to new system of education, like technical schools but for commercialized schools they still stick with the trend as long as there are more enrollees.

So Filipino subject would only belong to the so called extra-curricular.We can learn filipino through TV labi na karon dagahn tele novelas, internet, books,etc...
It is very obvious that why Filipino subjects are inserted on College units because of profit, during linggo ng wika or buklod wika mag pa print ug t-shirts para negosyo.Maka distribute ang mga maestra ug ticket para negosyo in line sa event for Filipino subjects.....negosyo gyud ang reason dili para edukasyon....

Ang sistema lagi kay nag-tugot nga magtunhay ang mga subject sama sa filipino (tagalog) nga wala'y ayo ug wala'y pulos sa modernization effort sa mga edukador. Sa pag-usab sa sistema, mosunod ang pag-silhig sa mga sagbot niini.

Bisan VALEDICTORIAN or LAUDE LAUDE pa ka unsa na mapa naay FILIPINO ro wala na subject ang Pinoy gutom lang gihapon . Karon , mangabroad ang pinoy ... he or she needs the TAGALOG LANGUAGE to relate and comprehend other KABABAYANS and at the same time use also ENGLISH to SUCCEED in the career .

Someone said here that one can learn TAGALOG in the movies ? I dont think so , yes we may learn it by heart the basics but by being FIlipino , its not enough to know and say " KUMUSTA KA NA " ?

I say revise ang TAGALOG subject by removing IBONG ADARNA , NOLI MI TANGERE , EL FILIBUSTIRISMO ... replace it with the PROPER USAGE of TAGALOG , version of the ENGLISH GRAMMAR in FIlipino . End of story , feel better patriotically and retain the IDENTITY for the next generations to come .

I suggest that all these subject nga gi-categorize as minor subjects should be taken up during our elem and secondary years para inig college focus na lang tas kurso nga i-take sa estudyante.

Filipino, even English, History, Social Sciences, PE, the NOLI and the El Fili nga inyong gi-lantugian apil na ang kay Rizal subj under the SocSci...should be taken before college. this way, inig college pulos na lang major ang kuhaon para mas ma tun-an ang kurso. specialization kung baga.

no more minor subject on college but a more focused courses to be geared.

kung mo-ingon pud mo nga ang linggwahe sa english usa ka factor ngano establish economically ang usa ka country di pud na siya fair. study na lang japan, malaysia and others they succeeded not bcoz they are fluent in english.

ANG SAYOP lang nato kay kung mo-ingon gani ka illeterate kay pasabot dayon nga di ka basa di lang sa atong punulungan (ma filipino o dili) ug sa inenglis. ang literacy issue nato kay dayon ma relate sa inenglis nga unta di in ana. pero saun ta man, ana naman ta. padayon na lang tas pag-improve sa atong fluency kunuhay sa inenglis.
