SU Accountancy to be named RP’s first Center of Development

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has granted the Accountancy Department of Silliman University's College of Business Administration a Center of Development (COD) status.

"We are the first and only Accountancy program in the whole Philippines to be granted a COD rank. It is given by CHED to institutions that have passed their standards," said Accountancy Chairperson Loren Ann Lachica.

The Accountancy Department was given two weeks to gather data to prove that it was worthy of being granted COE status. CHED evaluated the department on the basis of its facilities, achievements, and most importantly, its instruction, research, and extension programs.

"We are all very happy and proud that we've been granted this honour and we will be able to share the benefits not just in our department but to the whole Silliman community," Lachica said.

With the COD status, CHED-approved projects by the Accountancy Department will be given funding. These are meant to help the department develop their facilities and enhance its quality of education.

The awarding ceremony will be held on December 7 at the Crown Regency Hotel in Manila. Representatives from Silliman University will be there to attend the event and receive the award.

I graduated way back year 2000. My last tuition was 10000PHP per sem in an engineering course. Now its about 27,000PHP I guess. hmmm. mahal gyud.
