    Default Sppon Carving 101

Here are the photos of my spoon carving demo shown to the EWIT Mountaineers on Seeds for Earth Day, April 25, 2010 at the foothills of the Babag Mountain Range:

    Cutting tool: Tomahawk/Hatchet/Small Axe
Wood specimen: Madre de Cacao (softwood)

Cutting excess wood for desired shape

    Shaving and thinning the wood

Gouging out wood from the spoon head

    Underside of the spoon

    Could it hold soup?

More pictures here: Spoon Carving 101

Do not try this without wearing safety gloves. My apologies.

    My dream bushcrafting gear :

    Headlamp ....

    Flashlight ....

    Folding / Carving knife ....

    All purpose knife ....

    Back and hydration pack ....

Too bad high technology , expensive gears and comfort is discouraged since BUSHCRAFTING is all about surviving in the widlerness and just utilize and resource what is available and on hand .

Thats what separates CAMP RED from the rest of the outdoors people .

pic sources : surefire , ka bar , camelbak official websites

Did another spoon-carving demo to Boy T and Ernie with my Mantrack knife on May 16, 2010. This time, I used a very hard driftwood full of gnarls. Beautiful result but difficult to make. Will post pictures later.

Core group of Camp Red will have an important meeting on Wednesday in Mango Square to open up a possibility of tying up with an eco-adventure tour company. It will be a very good day for everyone soon.
