@cmontoya
eisner's book is more of how to, tips and tricks on sequential art. scott mccloud's book is understanding comics, a studying and dissecting what a comics is. they're apples and oranges... theyre both good.

@zerk: Thanks.

2. Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud
3. Comics & Sequential Art by Will Eisner
They're all available in our "library."
@vangogh:Â* I'll be in Manila from December 23 to January 1.Â* I'm assuming that the 2nd Komiks Festival won't be held during this period but nevertheless it would be nice to meet up so I can steal some tips, este, talk about our passion (not to mention ask for a copy of the Villpu (Vilppu?) DVD - kapal no).
@vangogh, zerk: What's a troll as Gerry defines it?Â* Pasaway (in PBB speak) or in Bisaya pabadlong?
Thanx to Weebong and DBeagle for being at the opening. Hope you guys took advantage of the free food there. anyway my goal for now is to get my lazyass going and just draw, cuz i spend more time thinking than drawing.
@cmontoya
our "library". i like the sound of that. hows the sketches naman? me, im studying the anatomy of the leg just to make sure of my muscle structure.

Drop by at Kahayag Cafe if you have the time and see our featured artworks. Entrance is free and the people there are very accomodating.
@cmontoya, perfect timing as i would be stuck here in luzon for this year's christmas holiday. my first time that i won't be in cebu. sure, let's meet up. yeah, the komiks festival might happen a week or two before dec 23. sayang, you would surely enjoy it. with all the jaw-dropping artworks on display. during this time, i also turn into fanboy and have my comics signed by their creators. like when i shamelessly gushed over leinil yu. hehe.Originally Posted by cmontoya

@Santini: I'm enjoying drawing boobs for now (I'm not sure if my initial construction lines are called sketches as sketches are "deliberately" unfinished studies. Â*I use 6H or 2H for construction work but found out that they're not kind to the rough paper I'm using.) Â*I can show my boobs studies on May 21 if you're attending but we won't be drawing As but I'll bring my photo references of nice "buns" as zerk calls them.
Our "library" has Figure Drawing for All Its Worth by Loomis. Â*It has good tutorials on male and female legs. Â*Learning anatomy is really useful, ain't it? I'll bring my anatomy books on May 21 so you can photocopy the leg sections. I'll text you on May 20 to confirm if you're attending as I don't want lugging the books if you're not.
Lastly, do your best not to be lazy. Â*You're young and sometimes young people think that they have years ahead of them to learn or do what they want. Â*When I was your age, I kept putting off my real passion because I wanted to please my father. Â*I didn't want to waste my time drawing and had to read plenty of computer and management books. Â*In order to escape from my nightmare, I played PC and Family Computer games when I should have been drawing. Â*If I spent the same amount of time I'm spending now back then, then I think I'll be at Serpieri's level now (18 years worth of drawing, syaro) but now I may have to wait until I'm 54 but until I'm 6 feet under, I won't stop drawing.
So while you're still young and unattached, please just draw. Â*All you need is a pencil and paper. Â*Daghan subjects in both the real and virtual worlds. Okay?

@all: Our goal should be SMACT.
S - specific
The what and who.
M - measurable
How many? How much?
A - attainable
Do we have the capability (i.e., skills, resources)?
C - challenging
Is it worth doing? Will it push us to the limit but not burn us out?
T - time bounded
The when.
Stating our goal using the SMACT technique will help us plan. Example, based on current skills and resources, what exactly are we capable of doing? How much effort or money do we need to invest to do it or to learn? How many pages, sketches will we draw? Who does what? When?
