PS3 versus Xbox 360 versus Wii

i've been looking around for PS3 specs and diff between the 499 and thr 599 version the only diff is that the 599 has the 60GB 2.5 SATA HD, Wifi B/G connectivity, MS/SD/Compact Flash reader, HDMI Output, but the 499 version has the same capability to output up to 1080p def (possibly through component cables). both have 4 USB 2.0 ports, Bluetooth 2.0.

Also the 499 still has internet capability through the wired Ethernet connection (up to 1 gigabit speeds), and this is new to me, both support SACDs, aside from DB/DVD/CD

@darkwing: We couldn't be as opposite as black and white. My technolust is longing for BluRay + HDMI + 60GB. Yeah, 1080p is sweet..what are you gonna be playing your planned system on? I'm still trying to look for future releases..nothin seems to catch my eye for now.

well, Heavenly Sword caught my fancy but I don't think this is a launch title, in fact, most of the games I want are not launch titles! So i have to wait before getting a unit, oh well more time to save anyways, is there a definite list of PS3 launch titles?? I think Warhawk is one..

I don't know how people can still have high hopes with the PS3 after their tremendously weak showing during E3, While MS was touting kickass 2nd gen. games like Gears of War, Sony came out with their keynote showing off their lack of rumble, and Ridge Racer (*cringe*). Sure there were a few gems, like Heavenly Sword and MGS4 but most other games were ho-hum by any standards.

So what's giving the PS3 the edge? Graphics? The games they showed, looked at best on par with what the Xbox 360 does (except for MGS4). "Innovative" gyroscopic control? Microsoft's Freestyle (or something, i forgot what it was called) did this during the 90's and if i wanted a controller change the Wii is the way to go? Blu-Ray? Meh, I couldn't care less, wake me up when the format wars are over. ONline functionality? Oh wait, we have Xbox Live for that. Pricepoint? Ahahahaah, yeah, sure Kutaragi, people are definitely going to buy the whole PS3 as a luxury device and super-duper awesome computer.

Bottom line would be it would all about be the games, and there isn't much that is worth getting excited about on the PS3 front. The major franchises from big Japanese devs are going to give them a leg up but frankly I'm finding a lot of these games extremely overrated (Mizuguchi and a few others are brilliant, but Final Fantasy got boring after VII).
