Maau ra sad oi wala supporta-i to water powered car.. kay you know you need more energy to split the hydrogen and oxygen than combining them... meaning H2O => H2 and O2 needs more energy that when you combine them H2 + O2 => H2O..

Pwede noon you can use solar power to do electrolysis sa tubig then collect the hydrogen and use that to power the car..

    Gordon pushes ethanol bill
FROM THE STANDS By Domini M. Torrevillas
    The Philippine Star 11/01/2005

In these increasingly difficult times – as felt by motorists appalled by the unstoppable rise in fuel prices plus the expected value-added tax (EVAT) – Sen. Richard Gordon’s pushing for the passage of the ethanol bill is encouraging. According to the senator, "Ethanol is a viable answer to the oil crisis and other related economic problems besetting our country today."

He said ethanol is a renewable energy source that can be produced locally from indigenous agricultural crops like sugarcane. It is an ideal fuel blend or additive for gasoline that is also environment-friendly, he said.

The bill, when passed, will provide the necessary legal framework for the National Bio-Ethanol Program, which aims to reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuel.

Citing figures, he said, "Starting from the use of five percent blend of ethanol in gasoline from year 2007 to 2010 and 10 percent blend from 2010 to 2017, a total of 3.6 billion liters of gasoline will be displaced by an equal volume of ethanol over a 10-year period." This will mean savings for the country of US$285 million over 10 years, or US$28 million annually.

The senator said that the promotion of the local ethanol industry would translate into agro-technology development, increased investments, additional employment, increased government revenues and a multiplier effect on support/downstream industries and the service sector.

He proposed the creation of agro-industrial economic zones with post-harvest facilities and ethanol fuel tanks in strategic locations in the country.

Aside from cutting on energy dependence on imported oil, he said ethanol could also be a potential export produce for the country. Brazil, for example, pioneered in the production of ethanol fuel in the 1970s to combat rising energy costs, and now exports to Japan and other countries.

Negros (Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental) is one of the leading or maybe perhaps the leading producer of sugar cane in the country. The potential for mass production ethanol is very huge.

    P2B ethanol plant
    up for construction

Construction has started on the P2 billion ethanol plant in the Tamlang Valley in Sta. Catalina and Bayawan City, in the southern portion of Oriental Negros.

Rep. Herminio Teves (3rd district, Oriental Negros) said he sees the need to develop new areas for ethanol, particularly at the Tamlang Valley.

He added that, during her recent visit to the province, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said she is supporting the plan to establish the ethanol plant.

Teves said he has asked the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the coordinates of Tamlang Valley.

The ethanol plant will be established in partnership with the private sector, he added.

The National Development Corporation will put up 25 percent of the total cost, 10 percent from the provincial government, and 65 percent from the group of businessmen in Manila and Oriental Negros.

These include the Herminio G. Teves Co. Inc., the group of businessman Julio Sy, and other interested investors and those who even want a controlling share.

Teves said when the ethanol plant is operational, the province will be importing sugar instead of importing oil. Investing on cassava is also one of the cheapest ways of producing ethanol or alcohol, he added.
