I hope makabasa kitang tanan niini...

Mao nay norm Philipines. We are not praticing hyperwage like other countries like hongkong.
Dont be surprised that we are a third world country its because our salaries are designed for people to be poor. Our economic strategy is poverty.
its not because you are an engineer or whatever its the wage policy sa pilipinas which is ridicioulosly low.

If that is so, then what about these call center agents? Man, based from their wages, Im gonna say it's totally unfair (if we'd consider your statements are true)!

But I like your opinion "Dont be surprised that we are a third world country its because our salaries are designed for people to be poor. Our economic strategy is poverty. "

    - hahaha...mura ra sad nanarbaho ta aron ma-pobre!

no...it's not only about training urself...nightshift workers (not only callcenter agents, apil n ang mga doctors, pulis, etc.) have higher risk of having health problems...

    Katong mga engineer, reply tawn...

brad kalma lng, ako pud wala ko ka angay ing-ana nga style diri sa pinas..

ako brother ky graduate ug ECE for 5 straight years and 2 year technician course, and fortunately licensed ECE na cya, but sadly ni try cya ug apply sa MEPZ, (company name withheld)... sus ang sweldo tag 12k lng! disappointed kaau cya ky nag eswekla ug 5 years plus licensed pa gyud unya sweldohan lng ug ing-ana then 2 months lng ni stop cya sa iyang work! g downgrade pag au ang mga engineers diri sa pinas....

But fortunately nkakuha ra gyud cya unsay best solution para ma solve iya prob! nag suway cya ug exam sa uc-metc mambaling campus sa wartsila company and then nka pass ako bro, way from his childhood dli cya mag expect nga ma seafarer (electrician sa barko)... karon nkasakay na ug satisfied kaau sa iyang salary which is $ 4,400 usd / month... electrician lng na sa ship overseas...
How much more if Deck or Engine Officer cya...

3rd Year Marine Engineering ko sa UC-METC karon, mostly ako mga classmates coming from different Universities nga classmate nko karon sa Marpol (Marine Pollution and Prevention) ug graduate cla ug lain2x nga eng'g courses, you name it, they took it and graduated.. EE, ECE, CE and especially ME, and license pa gyud cla! pero karon nag bridging program cla sa Marine Engineering course with the same reasons! "wlay kwarta diri sa yuta!" "dli kabuhi ug asawa, pamilya, etc...

out of all engineering courses, Marine Engineering is a 3-year course lng and ang imong future ky super Bright pa! and that's a fact... Imagine that pag mka grad ka ug mka bridging ka sa marine engineering, first nimo sakay sa barko with a cadet position mag sweldo dayon ka ug $ 500 / month and 6-8 months contract, then second sakay nmo is wiper imo rank then mka sweldo nka ug $ 700-800 / month. Then after ana pag naog nka kuhaon nmo imo diploma or bachelor para mka exam ka sa PRC ug Marine Engineer licensure exam then kung swerte ka naa nka 3rd marine engineer license...

imagine this kind of salary in USD unya sa pilinas ka nagpuyo...

Deck Officers Dpt. [Course: BSMT (Marine Transportation) ]

    Master Mariner / Captain - $ 7,800 - 8,000 / month
    Chief Mate / Chief Officer - $ 4,000 - 5,000 / month
    2nd Mate / 2nd Officer - $ 2,000 - 2,800 / month
    3rd mate / 3rd officer - $ 1,700 - 2,000 / month

Engine Officers Dpt. [ Course: BSMARE (Marine Engineering) ]

    Chief Engineer - $ 7,200 - 7,800 / month
    2nd Engineer - $ 4,000 - 4,800 / month
    3rd Engineer - $ 1,800 - 2,400 / month
    4th Engineer - $ 1,200 - 2,000 / month

Mao nay range kung barko ka brad, and that's only basic wages! wla pay labot ang allowances ana, unya depende puf unsa nga klase sa vessel imo sakyan.

(If graduate ka ug ME (mechanical Eng'g) mag bridging ka to marine eng'g, 6 months lng grad nka and pde na mkasakay, if EE (electrical eng'g) 1 year bridging to marine eng'g then grad na, other eng'g course is 1 and a half year grad na, mada ug 1 year if magsummer class or dghan ang ma credit nga mga subjects)

so kalma, lng, every problem has a solution... ang pag seafarer mag depende sa imo guts ug determination.. as some say

“The reason that we choose to become a seafarer is to give our family a better life and to encourage other mariners to become good at their job as a seafarer”.

mostly akong mga classmates sa Marpol, Marlaw, etc ky idaran na kaau, nag edad na ug 25-28 yrs old, and now nka realize cla nga naa diay mas dali nga solution... out of all eng'g courses, Marine Engineering can give you lot of money and let's you travel the world and see different kinds of chix! hehehe
