I am very much in favor of nuclear power (i.e. the typical fission-driven type nuclear reactor). However, with our current manpower and nuclear technology knowhow and current "Filipino way" of handling workstuff, one mistake, and one Chernobyl-type disaster could happen, and wipe out more than half of the Philippine population and wildlife due to fallout. I am not saying it will happen, I'm saying it CAN happen, considering our lack of experience with nuke plants (Russians had vast experience in it yet look what happened).

If we go nuclear, I am in favor of a plant that produces energy via nuclear fusion using Helium-3. One container van of Helium-3 can power the energy needs of the entire Philippine archipelago for over 5 years! But the problem is H3 can only be found on the surface of the MOON...and you guys keep wondering why Rodsky is so much interested in space travel and astronomy.

Hahahaha ngiga nimog theory bai. Yeah, fusion theoritically is better than fission that's why it is a very promising technology. I hope we will live to witness when this technology will be practical.

Kato Chernobyl incident according to reports kay dinanghag to sa Russians. Also, during that time, including the Mile Island incident sa US, kay bata pa kaau ang Nuclear Fission na technology. But now, especially Japanese technology hinog na kaau. Bag-ohay lang naigo ug linog ang usa sa power plant diri sa Japan but nothing big happens. Fall-out is a risk if we go nuclear but it is a risk worth taking.

OT- kun naa fall-out unya half sa population mawala di automatic ang population control, di na maglalis sa RH Bill. hehehehe....joke joke joke.

Yes we might think of it as only a theory for now...but...why do you think China is so aggressive about its space program? Do you really think it's only for national pride and propaganda? Dili short sighted ang Chinese (even though singkit sila hehehe)--they have long term plans, because they are guilty...

...of contributing to the worldwide global warming problem--Coal plants in China, which produce their electrical needs, contribute greatly to greenhouse gas emissions...

...so, to get rid of this guilt, and to free themselves from the shackles of being "Petroleum Addicts" like the rest of the developed world, they want a new source of energy that no one else in the world has, or at least, be the leader in this technology.

My own prediction is, if they get to the moon first, China has the potential to be the new "Middle East" (in terms of providing an energy source for the world) in the next 30-40 years, if they manage to get their hands on H3 and have the ability to transport it back to earth and let H3 power plants process it--result? Safer nuclear power. And knowing the Chinese, they will then SELL it cheaper than oil, to the energy-starved world we live in.

Dili baya bai, mis-information ra daw na sa mga politico during the Aquino years. Naa ko kaila na usa unta sya sa operator ato na plant after training nila sa US. Ingon sya good to go na kuno to ang plant but Marcos decided to delay due to personal reason hantod naabtan nga na kick-out sya.

Tan-awa hantod ron, naa bay linog nahitabo? Nibuto ang Pinatubo naapektohan ba ang BNPP? Wala. The project I believe was thoroughly studied by qualified engineers from the Philippines and Westinghouse so I'd rather believe that the plant is OK than listen to the politicians or people that don't even know how internal combustion engines works.
