Plus, Russia’s already excellent radars are getting better. Says Defense Industry Daily (DID): “Meanwhile, key radar advances are already deployed in the most advanced Russian surface-to-air missile systems, and existing IRST (infra-red scan and track) systems deployed on advanced Russian and European fighters are extending enemy detection ranges against radar-stealthy aircraft. Fighter radar pick-up capability of up to (46km) by 2020 is proposed against even ultra-stealthy aircraft like the F-22, coupled with IRST ability to identify Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile firings and less infrared-stealthy aircraft at (92km) or more.”

At the same time, there is no such thing as one radar in a war. “There are lots of radars,” Sprey explains. “And you can’t be nose-on or dead-level to every radar in the theatre. There are always going to be radars that are going to be shining up (from below) or looking from above – they can all see you.”

haha...that just the flanker and the brand new PAK-FA will be commissioned for service on 2016.

EPIC FAIL: Here's Why Most US Weapons Systems are Worse than Russia's
Two reasons: complexity, and too much money
pak-fa50? good luck to that. same as su 35... good only for airshows. even india is having 2nd thoughts on that plane. russians said that its 100% digital. lol typical russian propaganda. Here's a recent simulation from war is boring.

Writer of the article is making so many assumptions its funny.

Like Russia has closed on radar/detection tech as Americans. Wrong, not nearly. It might be getting better, but relative to what the Americans are working on. Not even close. It really doesnt matter how many types of radars you have out there anyway. You can cover more airspace probably but then what?

Like what has been asserted previously, F-35s stealth and detection are cutting edge and its advantages in those fields are not just marginal....they are insanely better than any aircraft to date. Putting that in perspective, a radar like the F-16E's AN/APG-80 will detect a traditional fighter target at a range of 194km and the F-35 at a range of 19km.

Note: Su-27(30) lost in every combat exercise, against F-15 in Red Flag, against F-16 in Greece, even against modernized F-4 in Turkey.

Can it really go against F-22s and F-35? Lol.

Putin already knows his sukhois will be fish in a barrel for these new American birds of prey that he's having all his shills and trolls work double time to detract its development. The F16 also received this kind of treatment in the late 70s...look what they turned out to be.
