News avers that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) once again surpassed its August collection goals. This means that we're finding more revenues for the government to translate these to government programs and projects. Indeed, our revenue- collecting agencies have been showing excellent performance in the past few months.

DILG urged all the Provincial Governors,City and Municipal Mayors and Sangunian members to implement their new system, the Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS) as a way of determining if their respective localities are developing through the different programs, projects and prompt delivery of services.

They said that systems like this could be useful to the local government unit (LGU) in the pursuit of good local governance through provision of results-oriented information on management capacity, service delivery and development from which may evolve decisions or actions to optimize investments or resources.

Gov't posts budget surplus for 4th time this year

(4TH UPDATE) The national government achieved a budget surplus of P14.3 billion in August, helped by restricted spending in the absence of a new budget and higher revenue collections, the Department of Finance said Monday.

BIR now is upgrading. They plan to build up its new information system to fully improve tax remittance by everyone. This indeed would serve as would serve as "spyware and tripwire" against tax cheats and cheaters.

They are planing to put down PP815 million in fresh funding coming the proposed 2007 General Appropriations Act that would finance the BIR’s Tax Administration Computerization Project.

I support this project for this would definitely lessen the tax problems plus the fact that the bureau will be able to collect P2 billion more. This is the kind of project that the government should prioritize. One of the best solutions that we can come up with when talking about TAX.

SINGAPORE -- The Philippines has made progress in poverty reduction along with the rest of East Asia, with the number of Filipinos living on less than $1 a day declining to 9 million, or 10.8 percent of the population, as of end-2005 from 12 million or 13.5 percent of the population in 2000, according to a new World Bank report.

Living on less than $1 a day is an international benchmark for measuring poverty across countries.

The report, “An East Asian Renaissance: Ideas for Growth,” authored by Homi Kharas, World Bank chief economist for East Asia and the Pacific, and economic adviser Indermit Gill was launched at the joint International Monetary Fund-World Bank annual meetings here.

It noted that the region had championed poverty reduction since the turn of the decade. But despite the region’s success in reducing poverty, urgent challenges like inequality, social cohesion, corruption and environmental degradation have emerged, according to the report.

Using a poverty line of $2 a day, the World Bank report estimated that 585 million East Asians were still poor -- about 375 million in China, 100 million in Indonesia, 40 million in Vietnam, 35 million in the Philippines and about 30 million in the other countries in the region.

This placed the Philippines’ $2 a day poverty line at 41.9 percent of the population, lower than the 47.2 percent in 2000.

The Department of Budget and Management allotted a P1B anti graft fund. This will ultimately contribute to the fight of the government against graft and corruption.

May this just be a reminder to everyone that the government alone should not take the responsibility to fight graft and corruption. Unless we cooperate with the governments program to fight corruption, we will not be able to combat corruption successfully. The duty lies not only with the government but also with the people.

To be emotionally tortured is the hardest part of their lives now, its understandable that His brutalness with his allies are non erasable in their lives.

Sana nga mabigyan sila hustisya kahit sa ganitong paraan lang...

Oil companies started to rollback prices of oil today at P0.50 per liter. News even averred on the probability that the roll back of oil prices may be expected weekly. Now, that would really be good news for us and to our motorists.

Should this continue, maybe we can also expect lower prices of our basic commodities.

The Congress has apporved a supplemental budget for the rehabilitation of disaster areas in Western Visayas and the Bicol Region costing of P46.9-billion.

This would include the rehabilitation and immediate respond to the need of the victims on the recent Oil Spill in Guimaras island and other place in Region 6, at the region 5,for affected of the Mayon Volcano's eruption.

They said that through this help, victims by this natural disaster would lessen its suffering and worries on how could they bring the lives they used to have when tragedies like this never existed yet.

Thanks for the lawmakers who never turn their back on issues like this and continue to support and help those who are in big needs.
