Hmmmm...
Its bad to generalize about that guys. You havent met all of the Americans and the Europeans so theres no way you could properly say that 95% of them are abusive.

My remark
[I certainly think he/she is an a$$]
Was aimed at Mr Johnston for his stupid remark
I am unable to say anything without you or godsaint crticisng it. If I say i would have liked the opportunity to be able to purchase a house in the Philippines even though I know I can't, you crticise it. You don't understand the laws of debating. I'm not criticising the Philippines in anyway, I just wish things were a little different, if you don't want to take my money, or other foreigners money for property then that's fine, we can rent instead or buy elsewhere, it's no big deal. It's not a criticism of the Filippino people and nor is it me or anyone else trying to be superior!!!

and let me remind u all for the Nth time that this is not a "hate thread" for locals against foreign tourists and vice versa.
the current rapid increase in foreign tourist arrivals in Cebu is a kind of 'CULTURE SHOCK" to some of our local folks.
and yes, some locals have inferiority complex sometimes when dealing w/ foreign guests, at the same time some foreign guests have superiority complex over locals...THAT IS REALITY, and in the long run, this kind of negative attitude and behavior will fade to some degree. just look at Hong Kong. People living in this country are now of different races. Tourist arrivals there are awesome.
This thread was created not only to discuss personal experiences but on a lot of things ranging from foreign investments to retirement of foreigners in the Phils. in a way to know where we can improve our country in international tourism and at the same time educating our foreign guests on our Filipino culture...
I even wonder why you guys fell for the trap that "somebody here who hates foreigners" obviously made. of course "georgejohnston" was made as bait to rile-up everybody. check his post and you'll know that he's/she's a newbie. in fact that's his/her first post.
we Filipinos are clearly showing that we're gullible, naive and confrontational.
gullible and naive because an obvious post "made to offend our feelings" got everybody's attention and expectedly we fell for it bait-line-and sinker. confrontational because we didn't analyze who said what. nobody checked who made the post. but everybody jumped on their toes and are eager to pick a fight not knowing the details... tsk tsk tsk... pity.
analyze the post first, re read it a couple of times before making your judgement.
this is a perfect example why Filipinos are looked-down upon by other races. a simple miscommunication can be disastrous.

Welcome to Cebu. Welcome to the Philippines.
The good: income for the lucky filipinos
The bad : not everyone can profit from tourists
The ugly : tourists being victimized by scheming filipinos
Dili cguro tanan noh. pro grabeh abosado ayu mga koreans. discreminate ayu sa mga pinoy. gamiton lang nila ila kwarta.huhu
there are a select few na okies ra, but most koreans have horrible personalities... that and they treat their women horribly (samot na ato!) - i cannot condone to such an atrocity. the only reason why foreigners have a superiority complex is because we have an inferiority complex. makes sense, di ba? answer this question - have you never thought, when having the chance to meet a foreigner, thought of this question "what can i get out of this guy/girl?" <<< this is an exemplification of the inferiority complex.
this is our cebu, this is our philippines. they are welcome to visit and enjoy her. she is a pearl, after all. exploit her and that will go right back to you. respect her, and that too, will go right back to you as well.
