many people are questioning why Liddawa was merely suspended and Paican and his crew were fired?

my take on the matter is, while both parties were drunk Liddawa committed a misconduct but the greater misconduct was with Paican. WHY? Because they hid the truth by editing the footage. If they have no qualms in doing so then by principle what will prevent them from doing the same thing in their reports to pursue a certain angle?

As they say, "The pen is mightier than the sword." In this case, "A camera is mightier than a badge." Thus come with greater responsibilities. A gun can just kill a number of people but a bad propaganda can kill a society or country.

So I say, that the firing of Paican was fair and probably that is also in the policies of the network in line with their corporate social responsibility.

the best case scenarion for Paican is if he appeals his case and he will still be re-instated but his new position will no longer be in news reporting, broadcasting or journalism but an administrative one.

We cant let "maluoy ta cuz hapit na Christmas" put over justice. So if I do something really bad and its near Christmas, I should be forgiven? Other people get fired for no reason, or cuz of being late. This is a direct violation of being a reporter. When you look at the footage clearly, they were the ones wrong, and lets say, its the police fault, but 3 of them beating him?! Then the other guy who was just trying to seperate them, they attacked him too?

And now he will say he got many trials? boo hoo hoo... we all have problems in this life. Its just that some of us choose not to add more to it.
