Any hams here working on the 10, 15, 20 or 40 meter bands?
Good Evening Transceiver users. I stopped from the hobby way back 1999 When I was a faculty member in Bacolod. Now that I had settled much on my new work here in Cebu, I intend to go back on air and hopefully I can meet up with serious users here in Cebu. I intend my return to be good. Goal for this this year is to be a member of any accredited radio group by NTC and take the NTC exam. Hope I get the same sentiments here from those who planned to get back to the air wave transmission. Cheers!
I tried asking on radio shops here in Cebu pero lisod na jud maka kita RG 5/9, 5/8 and 8 sa market. Can anyone help me where can I secure this? Or can recommend someone who know's how to make a two elements na inverted j's or selling diamond aerial antennas? Thank you in advance.
Hi! The return of the comeback
This thread & hobby seems to be lonely.
Truth is i have been off air for sometime now too.
I use to order my RG 58/U & RG8/U in Manila.
The Belden ones are good as it has lots of shields.
Where do you want to use the RG59, its 75ohms.
You can try the electronic shops in downtown Cebu.
I missed my antennas and the QSO's that it has logged.
The thrill of receiving & collecting QSL cards brings back memories that simply cannot be forgotten.
The stack from top to bottom:
- 4 element tribander 40/15/10 meter bands.
- 4 element monobander 20m band.
- dipole on the lower section.

Wow! What a set up!

Starting again on the hobby. Just got my starter's stuff for 2 meters. Im planning to place either x50 or F23 only since I am renting in an apartment where putting up a tower is not feasible. I think Im decided to invest on RG8, but looking for a good source here in Cebu was recently scarce.
Thanks.
I love antennas which makes up the most important part of ones set-up.
I believe that your signal is just as good as what your antenna is.
Used to have inverted J's on the roof and Diamond antenna on mobile.
Did you consider building up a cubical quad on 2m?
It's very easy to make and the gain is high which is good for longer distances. That is if you can put up one within your limitations of location. You can feed it directly with a 50 ohm coax/RG8 or RG58 and it can just be mounted on a pipe.
Diamond X50 is a good choice too and very flexible in case you intend to work the 70cm bands too.
Whatever your choice, just do it and don't look back
Keep the interest alive.
I am more keen on cubical quads. Got a ready-to-assemble 4 element cubical quad on 10m/15m/20m but i could not locate an ideal 2" alu boom. My ham dreams would have been complete if i got to assemble it.
Looking forward to see your cubical quad sir. On my end since I am just starting I am considering something omni directional, perhaps once I get bored on it and aim for a particular area I would go for directional antennas. I'm excited to see your cubical quad to be fully mounted and tested. By the way I usually monitor on the following frequencies 147.770, 146.460 and 145.460 in case you or anyone else who are following this thread are monitoring...73's nalang.![]()
Getting the 2" alu boom will be a problem sir. I've got all other things ready incldg the spiders. Go for the omni or any other antennas for that matter. What matters more is being on the airI'm usually passive on 2m/70cm bands and 10m/15m/20m/40m are my active bands. 73's sir and mabuhay.
