i think to vote for tommy or not is quite a tricky issue nowadays. altho, udoubtedly, he is a very savvy politician despite his being arrogant and vengeful, and that his winning this year's election is unquestionable. but does this translate to him being a good manager. firstly, his being vengeful and arrogant may be his innate personality and perhaps can't be changed, but this is also affecting cebu city's relationship with its neighbor cities and even the province. i think cebu (the city and island) will be more progressive if the major cities and the province work together for a unified metro cebu. secondly, the srp's debts have been bleeding the city's coffers long enough that basic services are starting to be neglected. i think cebu city's growth rate has been hampered largely because of this. but then again, maybe this is too small a price to pay for greater growth in the future..can anyone explain the intricacies of this issue without being political..there news that this project is illegal.
comparing cebu it to its neighbor cities tho, we're way on top hands down. i guess that explains why tommy enjoys the people's support despite the lackluster growht of the city. cebu city, i think, deserves a more robust growth rate. we're still a far cry from singapore or even the level of a makati biz district. i think that is the level cebu should be nearing and it think we're very much capable of achieving that but we'll need a great manager.
tommy is just too politically savvy to be replaced at this time and unfortunately, no one else stands out to be a better replacement at the moment.
