Stop over at Frankfurt before Stavanger got to call my family. Used the credit card on the pay phone call didn't went thru but still charge by 36USD. Toink! Mahal gyod kaayo. Went to a bar palit ug beer hinay ra 150USD kung convert usa ra na ka gabii. Maayo gani kay naa travel allowance kung wala kaubo.
This is where budget comes in... If you knew before hand that you have set a maximum budget then you wouldn't worry sitting in a bar. Also, if you keep on converting while you are travelling there, di gyud ka mo enjoy.Originally Posted by jill

jiggs, you're right. you should not convert if you're in another country especially expensive countries.
mao lagi naanad man gud ta sa pinas ug inom nga 3000php nga inom daghan na kaayo lingaw. TOINK!
beer in germany normally costs u around 4euros/pint which is not bad at all.
Nothing much interesting to see in brussels i swear thought it may seem to be a great plan to visit the place if u happen to be in the neighbourhood.Originally Posted by lamiko
i got to go to europe after i graduated from college. i knew this trip wouldn't happen again anytime soon so i made sure nga sulit jud. heheh.i joined a tour group organized by contiki. they specialize in youth travel and only 18-35 year olds are allowed to join. sus, amo mga kuyog mga palahubog jud kaayo. i was the only Filipino although i was with my cousin who's Fil-Am. amu mga kuyog kasagarn kay aussies, with some americans, some canadians, some south africans, and very few asians, mostly from SK who i totally bonded with (must be the culture thing).
my favorite places would be
london - spent like 2 whole weeks there but i still missed out on a lot, like the british museum and madame tussaud's. must visits are the london eye, stonehenge, and the tower of london. and make sure you go on those open top tour buses! uber cool! pero mahal pud oie, ang 24 hour pass sa bus kay 20pounds, at that time, about 2000pesos. paksit. pero it gives you a good overview of the whole city so i'm not regretting that we did that.
paris - it sucks that we were only there for 2 days because there's frikkin so much to see!! went inside the louvre, went up the eiffel (for 11 euro toh, pero that was the topmost floor, it's cheaper if you just opt for the lower floorsÜ), went to the notre dame cathedral which is a real beauty... and had some nutella-banana crepes sa gawas. that moment was worth the whole trip. lami jud kaayo. hahahha. ;p
scotland - paid 75 pounds, roughly 7.5k for a 3 day hop on-hop off tour with the macbackpackers. sulit jud kaayo kay we went all over scotland, including edinburgh, oban (where they have the best fish and chips in the whole of the UK), and inverness, where i didn't see the loch ness monster. :C heheh. pero beautiful views, very sexy guide (complete with kilt and a scottish accent), and amazing history. i even got to hear some scots playing the bag pipe. eerie and kinda sad but absolutely beautiful sound. makes you want to cry. ;p j/k! also i got to try some haggis, which is supposedly made of some interesting sheep parts. ;p para sa ako, mura man to'g dugo2 og taste.
norway - the fjords are absolutely beautiful! if you love green sceneries and peaceful bodies of water, you will go crazy over norway! i went fishing with my tita (who i was staying with didto) on their small boat and we caught 10k of fish in an hour. that was exciting! i have never fished before.>>they don't even use baits, they just have these shiny pieces of plastic that look like siling espada which they use to lure the fish to bite.
switzerland - chocolates du jour!! and the swiss alps are an absolute beauty!! we took a trip up the top of europe where the snow never melts. brrr. i was wearing 3 pairs of pants on top of the other and i was still shivering!! (3 sweatshirts and 2 pairs of socks too! yeesh) tried my hand at skiing and i totally sucked at it. hahaha. looks easy pero lisud man d-i kaayo oi.
austria - i love the food there!! chicken schnitzel and apple strudel! OMG!! i'd go back there just for the food. lol. very beautiful countryside. got to ride on a gondola up a huge mountain! yehey! nya fiesta pa jud toh sa hopfgarten when we went there so we ate, got drunk and fell in love with some handsome yodellers. or at least, my cousin did. hehehe.i just took lotsa pix and vidz.
it's been almost 2 years since kato nga trip pero the memories are still really fresh...i hope i can go back some day.... it really was the trip of a life time.
