Consul lauds police on robbery-shooting of Korean national

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) scored with the arrest Wednesday of three suspects in the robbery and shooting of a Korean national last Saturday.

Lawyer Augusto W. Go, honorary consul general to the Republic of Korea, said he is grateful to the police force for the “fast and efficient” solution to the case.

Arrested in separate operations in Cebu City and Consolacion Wednesday night were Ramil I. Felicano, alias Bolantoy, 22, of Ponce Compound, Barangay Carreta; Adrian Soltura Lim, 27, of Ponce Compound but originally from Pulpogan, Consolacion, Cebu; and Junmie Merino, alias Palang, from Martires St., Cebu City.

Lim was tagged as the driver of the blue Aura motorcycle (GA 3645), while Felicano was identified as the one who shot Young Suk Jeon, 30, along M.C. Cuenco Ave., Barangay Banilad, Cebu City last Saturday dawn.

Jeon was taken to Chong Hua Hospital for gunshot wound in the back. The slug exited in her abdomen.

Go said his associates in Manila (who had come over to Cebu to look into the incident) informed him about the arrests and requested him to “please convey our heartfelt gratitude.”

The suspects were arrested by a joint team from the Theft and Robbery Section (TRS), Vice Control Section, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide Section.

Merino was arrested after police recovered from him the .22 Magnum revolver used in the incident. Merino denied any participation in the crime.

Go said Jeon has been declared out of danger. The slug has damaged Jeon’s vital organs – liver, pancreas, kidney, gall bladder and large intestine. She underwent an 11-hour operation, Go said.

The incident took place five days after the robbery of Anchor Savings Bank on Archbishop Reyes Ave., the fifth major heist in the city since January.

The spate of robberies that victimized a lending firm, a cooperative, a distribution company, a ticketing office and a bank has prompted Acting CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador to launch an intensified campaign against robberies.

Comendador presented the robbery suspects to the media yesterday.

He said they had traced the location of the suspects after the Vice Control Section identified the owner of the getaway motorcycle, Wilfred Saladaga of Pulpogan, Consolacion, through the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7.

Police traced ownership of the motorcycle with the help of a witness who was able to jot down the vehicle’s plate number.

Saladaga said it was Lim who rented his motorcycle last Saturday.

Comendador said Saladaga may be used as one of the witnesses against the suspects.

His information eventually led the police to arrest Lim in Consolacion.

During an interrogation, Lim admitted his participation in the crime. He said he was the driver of the motorcycle and identified Felicano as an accomplice.

Police also recovered Jeon’s black pouch (not shoulder bag as earlier reported) hidden at the ceiling of Lim’s house.
From Consolacion, police went to Ponce Compound and arrested Felicano.

Felicano told reporters he shot Jeon because she wouldn’t give her pouch.

Lim, for his part, said he fetched Felicano in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City last Saturday. They were traveling along Banilad in Cebu City when they saw Jeon walking. They decided to rob her.

Lim said he was surprised why Felicano had to shoot Jeon before taking the pouch, which contained P2,000 and a Sony Ericson cellular phone.

Lim said they shared the cash before parting ways.

TRS deputy chief Michael Anthony Bastes told reporters Felicano is a noted robber whom he arrested in 2000 for theft and robbery.

He was jailed in 2001 and was released in October 2006.

Comendador considered the case solved at their level. (JST)

Despite the fact that Felicano was just released last year so that he could start a clean life, he's went back to the streets to strike again at helpless victims. Angayan gyud diay vigilantihon ning klase sa mga tawo nga ingon ini. Sayang lang ta ug buhis aron pagpaka-on ining mga tawhana unya mousab na sad sa ilang kanhing minaldito.

Anyone can do that . You dont have to be a VIGILANTE to kill or hurt someone because of grudge or for personal reasons .

it helps society to have one evil less in its midst.

its now evil fighting against another evil.
and in the clash of demons, a demon is sure to fall.

is the clash between evil and evil, in itself, morally good?
so, suporta na lang ta sa vigilante killings dinhi karon, o dili?
i will not support this so-called "VIGILANTICISM" because evil begets evil. sa minubo dakung kalipay ni sa tanas nga atong patulaN iyang paun.... satan is just playing games with us, for us to be decieved... "IS THE CLASH BETWEEN EVIL AND EVIL". Pero ginansya gihapon c satanas aning duwaa... Satan would like us to compromise in his plans, so that we will not believed anymore in justice and in the due process of law... this is his Agenda to decieved many people. So pips think a million times before you, make a stand in this so-called "VIGILANTICISM".
