Well, as far as i know there is many different kinds of Arnis and FMA, its not just the same because its called Arnis...
Both Balintawak and the Dacayana System is different from Doce Pares and if you look at what i am doing, then i am the only one in the Philippines mixing up FMA with parts from Bujinkan (Ninjutsu), which make what i teach a bit different to...
We still use stuff like the elements (Earth, Water, Fire and Wind) as a NLP system and meditation system, besides that we also have weapons like Metsubishi (from X-kans) and other secrets from Ninjutsu, which give a great mix with your FMA in my mind, so as said not all Arnis/FMA is the same.....
PS. I had to get my wife to translate your post, i am not good at your language...![]()

Lapunti!!!
ang kanang YAWYAN mga brad... filipino martial arts pud nah??..
As far as i know Yaw-Yan is the Filipino version of Thai-Boxing (Kick-boxing), so its used a lot in the ring and has a rules, high kicks and strikes, which would make it a sport not a Martial Art, but Martial Sport......

hmmm you missed a point manhattan1..
yawyan is a martial art and kickboxing is the sport that it participates...
Registration for Summer Training on the martial arts of Pencak Silat, Vovinam and Sikaran is on going. feel free to contact no. 09297354913 for details...
Minimum Age for participants is 10 years old...
I very sure i did not miss that one freeflyer04, Yaw-Yan is a Martial Sport as many other styles that compete is....
Unless you are going to tell me that you also have the gun, knife, stick, sword, small stick, metsubishi, improvised weapons and empty hand techniques like grappling, ground fighting and suchs.....besides just kicks, blocks and strikes within Yaw-Yan?
Because that would make you more of a "street wise" Martial Arts, not just a Martial Sports claiming to be a Martial Arts...So please enlighten me, if they got that...?
Remember: The way you train, is the way you fight....

precisely. Those are all parts of Yawyaw training. I did yawyan before and that style teaches a lot of streetwise defence. And it also has a lot of martial philosophies which is grounded on the Yaw Yan creed.
Just to make a point clear. There are styles that may have sporting application but are valid martial arts. Do not barge in here in the Phils telling us that what we do is not martial arts and that only your Ninjutsu is. we know what we are doing.
Well, first of i am not just doing Ninjutsu, i am also a instruktor within FMA (The Dacayana System)....
I besides that also have 14 years of MA background, what is yours?
I find it strange you say Yaw-Yan has all those things, since some of it is special Ninjutsu weapons and if i look online i cant find anywhere, where they say that they have these things?
But i dont think you understand exactly, how complete some styles are compare to others (you make it sound like its all the same)....
Dont think this is because i am saying Ninjutsu or FMA is the only way, because i think there are many good styles and i could mention many, but thats not really what its about is it?
PS. I dont need to barge, if you have doubt about me or my skills your are welcome to join my training and see what i stand for.....

Jan Jensen
