    OT:

depends on the accounts and how you look at your job. if kaya nimo mo antos on minimum pay and willing ka mo abroad, then I dont recommend a call center. just work for experience and move on to a greener pasture. but kung wa kay plano mo larga nya diri raka sa pinas... Im sorry but if youre in a company that offers minimum pay even to licensed engineers, most of the time ma supervisor nlng ka mas dako pa ang starting salary sa lowest level nga agent, and youre really lucky to get that position after a year of hard work and ass kissing. I can say this because Ive been working as an engineer and now as an agent.
The bottomline is, as long as your not willing to go abroad, a call center offers really high compensation. People always see the agents, but they never see the high paying higher level managerial positions.

and besides, most call center agents think about their future as well, they are studying other courses para maka abroad or saving their money for business oppurtunities which is way better than slaving on a position that takes forever to get and more often than not you always feel under compensated.

and for those complaining or ridiculing agents who spend their cash on cigarettes, hanging out, gadgets or parties. better stop it, kay wa juy paki ang mga agents sa inyo opinion. its their hard earned cash and they spend it the way they like it. most of the time, these are the new agents. wa pa naa anad ug high amounts of cash, but they will change their ways after mapul-an. I also dont promote this kind of behavior but I mind my own business.

Imagine a license Engineer working in a Call center

I know its very hard to find job specially those who are fresh grad,
but sacrificing your degree(4-5 years in college) just becasue of a higher Salary on the spot... its a NO-NO for me. Nindot rana sa sugod pero after 6mos to 1 year...? hmmm
not unless you have UTANG to take care and family to PAKAON ... okay ra na...

walay challenge only the shift ang maka-challenge hehehe...

and most of all ang knowledge mo multiply... its up sa tawo kung unsaon nya pag-take advantage ana nga resources sa company.

I can work in a call center with no sweat.. but I doubt a call center agent will apply for my field... just my two cents...

    *peace

basig OT na ni bro hehehe
kabalo ka brad, kung makabasa tong akong kaila nga taga call center sa imong post, mo ingon to siya ug, "whatever they say. their salary is still not even half of what i earn." aheheheh

wala man siguroy sayop ninyung duha. lahi lang mo ug prinsipyo. but if you have to look down on others inorder to convince yourself that you are in a better position, then samsing wong....

    ^thats great

going back to the topic though, all i can say is that i think it's time for us filipinos to think outside the box. we shouldn't depend on a company all our lives. that company can go bankrupt or downsize anytime.

personally, i prefer work sharing, telecommuting, freelancing, and all kinds of nontraditional work coz these make us more in control of our time and our income. matud pa ni steve pavlina (weirduhon nga tawo pero A-list blogger), working at a job fulltime is the biggest risk of all. mura daw ug nag negosyo ka unya usa ra imo customer. hastang! sakto sad baya siya noh.

so im thinking, if call center agents can work parttime or arrange for work sharing and get two employers instead of just one...at least kung ma lay off sa usa, napay usa. whatchuthink?

each and everyone of us has its own satisfaction, has its dreams, obligations, ma personal career o sa family. kon asa ta malipay o ma kontento ad2 ta did2. kon sa tan-aw nimo kulang ra, di paninguha pag-ayo and please don't rely and expect from the government to give us better life. kay natawo ta nga ingon ana na ang trend sa gobyerno nato. personally gus2 ko mo work sa pinas kaso di man ta ma kontento sa benefits so maningkamot lang gyud ug asa ta kita mas nindot di kay mo asa ta sa gobyerno.
nothing will happen good to yourself if you'll just expect something from them.

we understand that youre looking at the big picture
and the bigger picture is, the govt cant generate enough good paying jobs. the job market is really bad... its so bad nga sayon sayonon ra ug offer ug minimum pay ang licensed engineers.

try working in minimum pay conditions, maski 6 months ragud.

how I wish I could continue and gain the experience.... but lahi jud ning makatilaw ka ug kagutom kay way
    kwarta.

i wonder how the goverment reacts on this mass termination thing.
