No idea. I do not care much about Linux. My main platform is Windows, thats why I wrote Delphi. With it, I am able to develop amazing fast applications, means for me, faster income. Dont know much about linux.Originally Posted by javapenguin
I used to program in Pascal a long time ago, around 1990 or 1991. Delphi is the much improved version of Pascal. I didn't study Delphi after being a victim of a nasty virus which wiped out my hard drive with Windows 98 at that time,![]()
after that experience I decided to move to a more virus proof platform, that's why I moved to Linux, never regreted for my decision, I need a programming language that can run both in Windows and Linux, so Java is the best choice. :mrgreen:Just write once and it will run anywhere

Yes, but it depends on the JRE. For commercial apps, sold to the public, clients require usually a single exe, without any runtime components etc.Originally Posted by javapenguin
It all depends on what you want to do with your program, is it used by just some companies, inhouse, or is it used to sell on the public market.

Yes, I agree with you, it is easier to market something that does not require runtime environment, Delphi also executes faster than Java since it does not require interpretation layer like the JRE of Java. But Java is good for inhouse development especially if the environment is mixed with different OS.Originally Posted by softtouch_ph
