And it has to take a zillion posts for you to realize it. Congrats! LOLSOriginally Posted by SPRINGFIELD_XD_40
Hehehe ZILLION post ? Thought your smarter than that being a SCHOLAR and LAW STUDENT .
And you know where you positioned yourself .
Back to the topic :
Isnt MIRIAM a sorority herself ? I cant recall but seen it somewhere where she debated at one time about leadership .

I guess Miriam Santiago looks at it without bias to fraternities and sororities. Unlike most people, she looks at it as an isolated event and not points everything to the fraternities and sororities itself. Such a proposal of abolishing fraternities and sororities is a result of actions of notorious and delinquent frat members who became nuisance to the community.Isnt MIRIAM a sorority herself ?
depende sa context sa pagsabot sa gisulti ni Miriam..ako na na gidemonstrate with this statement:
If frats/soro cannot abide by the law of the land where they exist, no point of letting them exist, because if they insist on carrying on with the hazing practice, they are nothing more but a bunch of criminals
What you demonstrated Bai THADZ , I cant agree more because you are PINPOINTING the VIOLATORS but what MIRIAM demonstrated is a very sensitive and critical statement because she GENERALIZED it . Hilas niya gud .. who the hell is she na wala pa gani mahatagi ug independence ang Pilpinas and never heard the word fraternity , fraternity already existed since 1776 ?

I once gave an analogy about car accidents: There's a lot of car accidents, then if we apply the same solution as we've been applying now, then it's saying that we should ban all cars.depende sa context sa pagsabot sa gisulti ni Miriam..ako na na gidemonstrate with this statement:

With their aim to stop hazing and further deaths that results from hazing, abolition of fraternities and sororities is just a desperate move to put an end to such crimes. With or without fraternities, such delinquents will still exist and the only thing that they could change is that there will no longer be any fraternity-related crimes because of the very fact that fraternities no longer exist in anybody's context. With the abolition of fraternities, is there a guarantee that deaths resulting from hazing will stop? Frat wars will just turn into gang wars and it's just a mere change of name.
And other thing, such a move is throwing away a whole basket of tomatoes because of just a very few rotten ones. Very impractical.
reading the posts here, i've come to a conclusion:
obviously there is resistance to change. might be a matter of PRIDE. besides, longheld traditions are being challenged. male traditions pa jud. double strike.
peace, guys.
OT:
not to aggravate further, but just wanna point this out. i am personally opposed to boxing (sport) and it is my prayer that this deadly sport will be banned and relegated to history (do i hear mocking comments?). now i am no dreamer for i know this will NEVER happen in my lifetime. nevertheless, i'm free to declare my stand.
as to hazing, this one will be a thing of the past. in my lifetime.
LONGHELD tradition CHALLENGED ? Murag dili kay daghan kaau ALTERNATIVE na of EQUAL and BETTER options for the NEOPHYTES .Technically maski walay HAZING that will fall sa category na ASSAULT and BATTERY . Ako wala kahibalo ngano moresort gihapon ang FRATS sa HAZING as part of its INITIATION RITES na daghan na man unta ALTERNATIVES . MALE tradition , YES for FRATS and so is the FEMALE tradition for SORO . Strike 1 ra oi hehehe .
