    A Victims Whisper

    Once you've heard my story

    Can you feel the pain?

Must I walk this cold, dark path?

    Silenced by the shame?

    Â*

Who will take a stand for me?

    To say I'm not alone?

Who will take the pain I've felt,

And let the cost be known?

Here's some more cut & paste literature...

    Â* Liza's story...
As far as our marriage was concerned, he wasn't sensitive... Four years into the marriage, I found out he had a problem with masturbation and pornography. Seven years into the marriage, I find out that he was also molesting my daughters ... It had a definite effect on our household. It tells a woman many things when a man is looking at pornography. My relationship with my husband evolved into a love that hurt.. He became very desensitized to not only me, but to the world around him. I understand Pornography to be an addiction. I understand its effects cannot be underestimated.... By the time he was ready to straighten out his life, we had drifted so far that the marriage was not salvageable.

Â* Â* Â* Â* The portrayal of sexually explicit images has become commonplace in today's society. What once was taboo is now openly available. Pornography is defined by the dictionary as “written, graphic or other forms of communication. intended to excite lascivious or lustful feelings." It generally appeals to those who want quick sexual gratification with a minimum of emotional investment. Today, explicit sexual depictions are seen in magazines, on video cassette, on film and live on stage.
Â* Â* Â* Â* Dr. Victor Cline, a clinical psychologist at the University of Utah, is nationally regarded as an expert on the influence of Pornography on society. Dr. Cline has discovered that a consumer of Pornography often follows a four-phase pattern.
Â* Â* Â* Â* Dr. Cline says "The first is addiction ... there's a very powerful addicting effect with pornography. They get into it and they go back again, and again, and again. The second thing that happens to them is that after a while they get desensitized to the material they see. And what was initially inappropriate, taboo-breaking, perverted, disgusting, after a while becomes acceptable. The third thing is they find a need to escalate and.. .get into rougher, more vicious, meaner kinds of material to get their turn-ons.. . and the final thing that happens is they begin to act out these sexual fantasies they've seen, either in film, or video or in magazines. Because by now they've been desensitized ...There's no conscience left. There's nothing right or wrong anymore."
Â* Â* Â* Â* Much of the concern about pornography is that it is now being combined with violence. Many contend that this leads to violent crimes against women. Dr. Cline believes that the effects of viewing porn can also negatively influence male-female relationships... and create a great deal of pain. Lisa's marriage of seven years shows the exact scenario Dr. Cline spoke about.
Â* Â* Â* Â* Generally the people who produce and purchase pornography are men. It is produced to make money. It is purchased because of a selfish obsession with ***, a desire for instant gratification, and a desire to manipulate or control women.
Â* Â* Â* Â* Studies have shown that exposure to pornography leads to the acceptance of the so-called "RAPE MYTH".. That is, that women actually enjoy being sexually assaulted. One study revealed that nearly 60 percent of the men surveyed showed indications that they would rape a woman if they knew they could get away with it. Dr. Cline says that for the good of society, some restraints are needed. Just as we have rights to protect the drinking water from being contaminated.. .that in democratic ways it is appropriate for limitations to be placed on pornography to prevent our children from being contaminated.
Â* Â* Â* Â* The Attorney General's 1986 Commission on Pornography found a definite link between hard-core porn and *** crimes. Their 2000 page report contained 93 recommendations to serve as a guide for governments to crack down on hard-core pornography--a 9 billion dollar a year industry.
Â* Â* Â* Â* Reverend Jerry Kirk, the President of the National Coalition Against Pornography said: “Pornography has led our society, first of all, to become promiscuous. It has helped lead to the disintegration of the family structure and moral life... It has led through that promiscuity to sexually transmitted diseases of epidemic proportions. Some people say that the pornography issue is a religious issue, others say it's a moral issue, but for everybody it's become a public safety issue."

Google was my best friend today . I apoligize if my reply was too long, it won't happen again some of my sources were long.

Its not that I dont mind but its not my business . BTW .... walay relativity lage ang PORN sa COMMERCIAL *** WORKERS.
What's a commerical *** worker? The ones who are smuggled from other other countries to work in a prostitution ring?
You’re right, porn stars and commercial *** workers do not have much in common. Just wanted to know how you felt about prostitution. I thought at least one person wouldn't mind prostitution as long as you do it privately, but it's interesting that those who are "pro-pornography" were not necessarily "pro-prostitution", or at least not as comfortable with it.

Do you know what is a HOOKER ?
I’m thinking Hooker = prostitute. That was my original question to those who have no qualm with pornography. I guess there could be different types like a brothel, or being bossed by a pimp (I really don’t know or care). I believe n’gel said that she didn’t support prostitution because it isn’t legal, which kind of make sense. Though some parts the World (1st world countries like U.S. and Germany, sadly England) have legal prostitution in small discrete areas.

Where did you get the 411 on some HOOKERS get into the porn industry ? I did not say its not or it is but I just want to know how did you know about it .
It was just an educated guess at first. But since you want some info I did a little research and found out several porn stars started out as prostitutes. There are a couple websites like bbc or U.S’s cnn who could probably give out the specific names(some were American and British). However this quote gives a better idea, it was taken from Yale University's website and talks about the squalor conditions for those who are in the Brazillian porn Industry.

“Despite the risks, however, money talks: Brazilian actresses, many of whom moonlight as prostitutes, can double the $175 they earn per scene if they work with actors not wearing condoms”

In this quote a porn actress talks about the diff/sim between porn and prostitution.

We're prostitutes . . . There are differences. You can choose your partners, and they're tested for AIDS - you won't get your john to do that. But we're prostitutes: we exchange *** for money.
--- Porn Actress "Chloe" (some book i forgot, but you can google it)

You are right on the similarities on them being paid for *** .... but the fine line there is PORN STARS loved their jobs and HOOKERS dont for a starter .
I’m sure Jenna Jameson (sp?), and a lot of the famous porn stars are comfortable with their jobs. But not EVERY porn star is happy with their job. Then again which profession does…right? I'm sure there is a good number of those who are not thrilled about their job, but the high amount money is what keeps them in porn industry. However, the downside is much more worse than any other profession if you don’t like your job. A former porn actress gives grim view of her life/career in the porn industry.

"What I saw were women just like myself who were desperate, addicted to drugs, homeless, and I'm sure probably at least 80 percent of them suffered from sexual abuse as children. I saw them re-living their childhood experiences by getting into that industry. They were looking for attention, pleasing men, and being abused. And that's all they know. They think it's great. They think it's wonderful. I could've looked you in the eye ten years ago and told you that I loved being in pornography, was proud of what I was doing and that I was having a great time. But now I can tell you that it's so far from the truth. I was very convincing. I could convince you. I mean, I could walk up to a porn star today and she could tell me the same story and I can remember being in that place."
-Carol Smith, former porn performer, in Not For Sale

You have to consider that AIDS cannot be contracted from sexual intercourse only but to BODILY FLUIDS shared from infected people . 90% of porn actors and celebrities are drug dependents and shoots
You’re right about how Aids can be transmitted, but in this case the guy I was citing got it from the his job. His name is Darren James and if you want to know more about it you can google his name.

You do have a point .... but it does not relate to MORAL and ETHICS in life towards PORNOGRAPHY anymore . It is about personal life na ang napadungan bai.
You could be right, I just wanted to add on to your comment on responsibility. Responsibility includes knowing ALL the facts before you do it. I just wanted to shed some light to the porn as an INDUSTRY, not to the people who watch porn, but then this thread became more about watching porn so I felt that I should give my own opinion too.

@n'gel: I didn't mean you or anyone else here "embraces" pornography. I meant more as society/culture has a whole. The porn industry is making money in the billions, more than a lot of major film companies. That bothers me.

Just google if you want to find the sources. One of the major sources was www.oneangrygirl.net but I did get some from the UK's the Guardian, bbc. MSNBC, Yale.

Our standards of what is immoral and what is not change from time to time, and from place to place. Nothing is absolute.

But if we are Christian, and knows deeply that we are, we should and have to know that pornography poses no good to us all. That's the end of it.

You know this by asking God, is this right for me?

Pornography promotes a culture that seeks out pleasure on the expense of others' humanity. An evil much like the mythological Hydra, it has many heads, many faces-- if one head is cut, another grows in its place, with a different face.

I'm not sure how to correlate the former from the latter...
