If Mayor Tommy's strictness and sometimes authoritarian methods will help make Cebu a better place then I am all for it. Go Tommy!!

Well, that's the big IF! Strictness does not necessarily mean good. Hitler was strict. So was Stalin. And they were some of the worst dictators the world had ever known. Lee Kuan Yew was strict, and he used it as a way to cover up his family's corruption.

That is why democracies have a system of checks and balances. It keeps dictators from sprouting up. When people forget these and take shortcuts, you have disasters. That is what happened when Germany put Hitler in power. They took a shortcut, and ended up with a global war.

There are no shortcuts to a good, free society. Petty dictators just make things worse in the long run.

i think he does not buy votes... but he just warns the brgy captains that if he will not win in their barangay, luoy ang barangay.
