"Dela Cerna told Judge Paredes he had “serious doubts” on the capability of IT expert Leo John Oliveros to handle the electronic evidence.
So Judge Paredes ordered him to cross-examine Oliveros.
While he had no experience in court-related retrieval of electronic evidence, Oliveros said his training in retrieving forensic evidence and file management are quite similar.
Judge Paredes later ruled to allow the USB viewing for a specific purpose: the court wants to know how relevant the contents are to the kidnapping with homicide charge.
Oliveros observed that no modifications were done on the USB flash drive contents. The USB has one “fresh file” and three folders saved on it. One of the folders showed pictures of cartoon characters, a woman cuddling a baby and landscapes, among other pictures. "
