What Earl meant is this:

GTX-285 3-way SLI (3-285's)
vs
GTX-295 Quad SLI (2-295's)

The GTX-285 3-way SLI wins.

Yes that is true but the real point was:
2 285s on SLI with 1 295 for physx VS 2 295 on SLI (which technically makes it quad but I still refer to it as just SLI config of two cards) with 1 285 on Physx. That was my original point and not all the technicalities that fall in between or which card is actually better in terms of technical definitions or benchmark resuslts

No it didnt start there, I only corrected your terminology that using 2x GTX285 + 1x GTX295 is not Tri-SLI theoretically nor technically. And after your 2nd reply, i didnt really get it why you got so upset and you started this silly little argument.

Now just to clarify some things;

I already told you that i ment the GTX285's in SLI, i didnt bother editing my post since you even quoted me and i said "I ment in SLI" i thought you already understood that it was a typographical error on my side, but assumption failed on me.

The GTX285 in SLI inst technically a "lower" card since it is better than the GTX295 GPU wise with 1GB Memory,512bit memory bus and faster clocks. The GTX295 will be faster if it runs in quad SLI though.

The GTX295 is not the "latest" nvida GPU, google the press and retail release for both GTX285 and GTX295, the GTX295 came out first, making the GTX285 the latest card but the GTX295 is faster than a single GTX285.

I dont understand why we have this 2x GTX295 debate, your not using that hardware so its pointless to argue on that further.

BUT, they are not marketing the 295 as the SLI ready single card as they did the past GX2

See the confusion in your own statements

1.)earlier you called a 2x GTX285 + GTX295 a "tri-sli"
2.)so now its "technically" quad-SLI
3.)but you state you didnt care too much about the technical definition of terms.

Please do no try to twist your statements, The very original point was that a 2x GTX285 + 1x GTX295 cant be called tri-SLI.
We are talking about hardware, technicalities and terms do matter alot.

One can call it GTX285 in SLI w/ GTX295 as a dedicated PPU, and please do not bring the 2x GTX295 back into argument since your not showing that kind of configuration ( yet )

Btw I will be deleting all these useless off topic discussion soon. Fyi to everyone, I think it just taints this thread.

Heated yet civilized discussions is what makes a forum very interesting, people learn a lot in these types of discussion even if its slighty off-topic, but if that is your decision as a moderator i would only ask that you absolutely delete everything starting on the tri-sli correction i made and you edit your post in regards to the "Tri-SLI w/ 2xGTX285 + 1x GTX295".

yup, 4870X2 in crossfire.pero wala pa moabot ang PSU nga padala sa silverstone..

Yeah i guess dli kaya sa OP700, since about 280+ man daw ang draw ana per card. assumed 560watts at peak load.. naa pay ma bilin about 100watts sa OP700, still not enough to power the quad when OC'ed.. Why not demo the 1,200 watts unit kana lami kaayo na!
