On January 5, when Jan-Jan was scheduled to be released, his doctor approached him and asked if he wanted to earn money by uploading the video taken during his operation on YouTube. Ashamed with what happened, he refused.

The video was reportedly uploaded on YouTube last February. When Sun.Star checked the site, the video could not be found.

When he also asked for a complete copy of his medical records, Jan-Jan was not given any because he was told they were used for a medical case study.

What he has and what he showed to Tumulak is a copy of a medical form that was issued by his doctor for a follow-up checkup with a psychiatrist last January 18.

Jan-Jan failed to see the psychiatrist because he could not locate the office. He also showed Tumulak the discharge order from his doctor. (NRC of Sun.Star Cebu)

either way, through winning a lawsuit or an out of court settlement, the patient is entitled to monetary indemnity. if I were the patient or his lawyer, I won't settle for anything less than P10M, a public apology, removal of the video from circulation and a revision of Philippine laws needed in order to hand-down stiffer penalties and harsher punishments regarding this case.

it would be much sweeter if the concerned parties are stripped of their licenses, jailed and publicly humiliated and ridiculed for this careless and immature act of publicly sharing this "unflattering" video.

where's the "doctor-patient confidentiality" in all of this?

Jan-Jan is "supposed" to have every right to all of that and more. but since he is in the Philippines, he can be treated like a nobody. treated much lesser than a guinea pig, treated like a dog. that's a sad fact, a sad reality but I think it will improve after this. it's been long overdue for the medical field in the Philippines to be overhauled. sad to say that it would take a show like "Desperate Housewives" and a case like this for it to finally happen but it will be much better after this.

can't wait to hear the names of this sorry arse "professionals" announced over print, radio and TV. they deserve all the humiliation and public scorn addressed to them, every single bit of it for a "job well done".

heck, if any of my two sisters, my cousins and other relatives, who are all in the medical field, do anything similar, didn't prevent this from happening or at least showed any sign of objection then I'll personally lash out at them for doing so.

it's good to know that those nursing students in the video suffered sanctions implemented by their respective colleges as a result of their involvement in the surgery. the question is---as to what intensity...

Dakung mayra sa mga bogo nga mga doctor ug nurses ug student nurses. If there's such a word as "bogo" mao na sila, kay ka klaro anang code of ethics nga ilang gipanumpaan pagkuha nila's ilang lisensya? Unsa na amnesia sila kadyot? MAYRA. I hope everybody in that operating room loses their licenses. They all deserved it.
