It has been evident that pound-for-pound, ornamental fishes has become one of the most popular pets and there are many existing fish groups (Betta Splendens, Flowerhorns, Goldfishes, Cichlids, Arowanas, Kois, Guppies, Discus, Plecos, Platys,Tetras, Gourami, Platy, Swordtail, Planted tanks, Marine tanks, Ponds etc) today in our city.

Now we all know that it would be very difficult to hold exhibits and shows without major sponsors and our group has been aggressively determined in holding a show. Sad to say, there are only a handful of us and it would be very difficult for us to handle the cost ALONE as a group.

Now I have an idea. What if all the fish groups work together towards a joint participation to hold a GRAND AQUATIC CONVENTION! It would be a grand event for those who are into Ornamental fishes and Aquatic landscaping! It would be our very own AQUARAMA and what better place to hold a first major Aquatic convention than here in our beloved Cebu City!

With the participation of all the groups and each of their members, we could raise funds to organize a major event like this. Bird shows, Dog shows, why not a grand ornamental fish show and exhibit!

We could hold lectures, shows, COMPETITIONS, exhibits, trade, market our products, raise group funds, gain grounds when it comes to promotion and catch the public's attention but most of all, share to everyone this PASSION WE ALL HAD BEEN MADLY IN LOVE WITH!

This could be VERY big and I dream of hopefully making it a National event someday! Holding it annually like the Sinulog... Venues would be large outdoor establishments with cover like the Parking Lot at SM, Ayala gardens or the Sacred Heart Boys Gymnasium etc or we can hold it in malls...

With all the groups working together we can acheive something big like this. I'm sure those from Luzon (Manila) and Mindanao (Davao) would gladly join us if we could gain their attention... In fact, we can invite them to sponsor our endeavors for advertisement of their stocks, as judges or they can send in their entries so we Cebuanos can prove to the rest of the country that we are the best breeders of ornamental fishes... It would be irresitable for hardcore hobbyist!

Each group should be in charge of their set-ups, tarpaulins, stalls, lectures, water supply, tanks, aerators, maintenance etc...

An organizing committee should be made with the head of each group being in charge of coordinationg with their members...

We could expand and invite other groups like Turtles, Snakes, Salamanders Iguanas etc if they are interested then it would be one big helluva' PET-O-RAMA hehehe...

We could hold this annually probably in June, July or August where in no other holidays would intertwine with our Aquatic Convention so that we can solo all the publicity.

It would be a week long event celebrating our hobby in the Ornamental Fishkeeping...

Petshops can sponsor us if they wish to and they could sell their accesories, advertise their shop, offer us the latest accesories of the trade in their own stalls.

Remember that the BEST and MOST EFFECTIVE way of promotion, recruiting new hobbyist and getting the public eye is through PUBLIC EXHIBITS, SHOWS, COMPETITIONS and CONVENTIONS!!!

Having your own circle within your group is special as it creates lasting friendships and comradere' when we share the same interest but it would be great to reach out to others and share to everyone the hobby we dearly love...
