If we focus on the substantive issues that will be taken up in the summit, we will realize how important this is in terms of the impact on the lives of of the peoples of Asia, of the conventions that will be signed during the summit. The ASEAN member-countries will be better enabled to deal with the onset of globalization if there is better cooperation among them to achieve individual and collective competitiveness. There is also the convention on counter-terrorism which would be of great benefit to our government's anti-terrorism campaign.

Another key issue in the summit is the advancement of peace in Myanmar, particularly the release of political prisoners and speeding up of reforms. It's an honor for us to be playing an important role in the pursuit of peace in the Asian region.

Wala pa ko nakakita ug benefit. Lisud man gud ni uban nato sugbuanon ispelingon gud.

Ako nahibaw-an mo push kuno ug integration ang Pilipinas for Asean? Na unsa?

Kita pay uwahi in terms of economic development plus competitiveness, kita na hinuon ang mag pasiugda ug economic integration. Impas atong gagmayng negosyo ani kay bubu-i man ta ug mga produkto gikan sa gawas nga mo compete sa atong lokal products. Binugo gyud kaayo nga lakang ba.

@wanderlust: Ok man nang nag tabang ta to play an important role pag restore sa democracy ug pursuit ug peace. Pero pag ka hipokrito ra pod kaayo sulbad sulbad kas problema sa uban pero wa ka ka sulbad sa mga political killings, vigilante killings ug uban pang pagyatak sa tawhanong katungod mismo sa imo tugkaran.

Of course, that will inevitably be also one of the topics that will be (or is being) taken up in the summit. But the necessity to deal with our own problems at home need not prevent us from also playing an important part in bringing peace to other countries. Other countries are also helping the government to put a stop to the killings here.

COOPERATION - that's a BIG word that the ASEAN Summit would bring ....

Globalization is already upon us, we would need the help of our nieghbors, and this is basically the motive of the Summit. Diba kita man kahay nagpa-uso anang term nga "bayanihan", why can't we welcome our nieghbors to the table to talk about thing relevant to us ... If we shun ourselves against the rest of the world .. what would become of us? Another North Korea perhaps?
